Pacific Coastal Airlines is looking for a permanent full-time Ground Equipment Shop Assistant. This position is based out of a hangar located near the South Terminal building at the Vancouver International Airport in Richmond.

The Ground Equipment Shop Assistant works collaboratively with our GSE Supervisor and under their direction. They perform a variety of tasks throughout our network to ensure that ground equipment is kept in optimal condition. They must ensure that safety and quality of workmanship is a priority at all times.

Job Responsibilities:
Review work orders and discuss work with supervisor
Inspect, diagnose, repair and service mechanical, electrical and electronic systems and components of cars, buses, and light and commercial transport trucks
Maintain tools and support equipment in safe and operational working conditions
Keep work areas clean and free of hazards
Perform preventative and routine equipment service, such as oil changes, lubrications and tune ups
Advise supervisor/manager on work performed, general vehicle condition, equipment malfunctions and future repair requirements
Complete and maintain reports to record problems and work performed
Maintain the highest standards of safety and security at all times
Travel to airports throughout BC when required
Other duties as assigned

Strong mechanical aptitude, able to work on a vairety of equipment
Valid class 5 or higher driver's license
Capable of lifting up to 50 pounds
Ability to work outdoors during inclement weather conditions
Flexible to work weekends, evenings, holidays and/or irregular shifts
Must be able to obtain and maintain designated security clearance
Preference give to YVR RAIC and D/A holders

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Excellent organizational, time management skills
Ability to balance multiple priorities and deadlines
Strong teamwork and communication skills (written and oral)
Ability to troubleshoot and repair mechanical, hydraulic and electrical problems
Sound knowledge of various methods and practices used in servicing and maintaining equipment
