The YYZ Maintenance-Duty Manager is directly responsible to coordinate and supervise the Maintenance activities required in order to provide serviceable aircraft that meet operation requirements while satisfying Transport Canada and Sunwing standards of airworthiness. The position will be located in Toronto, ON.
Administers Safety compliance, Company procedures, and Transport Canada standards through daily observation and interventions
Direct management of daily operational objectives
Responsible for production capabilities by; Directing the work of others, arranging for third party support, Managing Aircraft Technician assignments, Distributing manpower, and Prioritizing work tasks
Resolve issues concerning regulatory compliance, quality control, supply chain, and tooling to meet scheduled ground time objectives
Ensures there is clear and concise communication passed on to, and from, their Team, MCC, SOC, STOC and the Aircraft Maintenance Manager
Build estimates and update the Maintenance Control Centre on aircraft status versus departure schedule
Responsible to make sure that the aircraft visit is accomplished within pre-established times
Front line responsibility for out of service aircraft, On time performance, management of MEL and NEF clearance and Technical dispatch
Ensure Aircraft Technicians are accountable for their performance
Perform ACA duties as may be required subject to operational considerations such as an unanticipated volume of work or as directed by the Aircraft Maintenance Manager
Perform engine run, high power run and taxi on company aircraft
Perform dual inspections and independent checks
Approve overtime based on manpower shortages and workload requirements
Completion of company performance reviews of employees under his/her control
Conduct crew meetings at the beginning of each shift
Coach and mentor maintenance personnel on technical matters and manage task assignments to ensure adequate exposure to a wide variety of areas within their scope
Identification of developmental/training needs of personnel as may be required
Provide on the job training for aircraft run and taxi and the use of special tools and procedures
Individual counseling and the disciplining of employees
Communication of changes or updates to policies, procedures or operations as necessary
Other duties as assigned
Must hold a valid Transport Canada Aircraft Maintenance Engineer Licence Category M2
Ability to work in a team environment as facilitator, focusing on team success
Sound technical and working knowledge of processes, procedures and Information Systems relative to the specific work area
Good verbal and written communication skills
Demonstrate the ability to work in a stressful environment
Possess strong organizational skills
Be able to work independently
Thorough understanding of Line Maintenance aircraft check procedures
Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Power Point) an asset
