We have an exciting opportunity for a full-time permanent NDT Technician (NOC Code 2261) in Hamilton, Ontario. Our Hamilton facility supports B737 NG and B737 MAX aircraft.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Testing and Evaluation
The NDT technician is responsible for conducting material tests using a variety of non-destructive methodologies and technologies on aircraft, engines, and all related components. These methods can include Eddy Current (ET), Ultrasonic Resonant Testing (UT), Dye Penetrant Testing (LPI), Magnetic Particle testing (MPI) and Radiography (RT). The NDT Technician ensures quality or detect discontinuities (defects) in accordance with the scope and limitations of the NDT method being used. Testing criteria are applied in accordance with applicable specifications or standards. Testing outcomes are evaluated for acceptance or rejection, organized and reported on in writing. The NDT Technician also assists in the establishment of techniques for proper examination of objects under inspection, ensuring strict adherence to safety regulations
The NDT Technician calibrates testing equipment and interprets results with respect to applicable codes, standards, and specifications.
Work closely with the Project Supervisor, Customer, NDT Team Lead and Management about identification and interpretation of test results, work priorities and progress of projects. Actively participate in company safety initiatives, incident investigations, etc.
Minimum of 3 years working experience.This position requires a minimum certification and qualifications, level II for Eddy Current (ET) and Ultrasound (UT). The applicant should be able to provide training certificates and proof of experience in the form of a logbook with a minimum of 400 logged hours per technique in order to achieve recognition under KFA's NAS 410 Certification or have a current certification recognized within the NRCan Directory of NDT Personnel for the two techniques and levels identified above. We will consider candidates with European NDT Standard (EN 4179:2017) or the American Society for Non-destructive Testing (ANST CP-189) if they are able to obtain their NAS 410 Level II as determined by the KF NAS 410 Level III. All or a portion of previous education and hours may be considered.
In addition, we are expecting our successful candidate to have completed Senior Math or training courses in mathematics. Candidates also need to have a proven ability to interpret drawings and other authoritative publications.
We are looking for a candidate with analytical, report writing and computer skills. He or she is able to meet the physical demands of the position and is flexible to travel away from base at times. Our ideal candidate is a good communicator with strong interpersonal skills who can work as well as part of a team as independently.
HOURS OF WORK
Typically, Monday to Friday but may be required to work overtime or weekend based on customer demands.
