Private Air is an aircraft management and charter company, based in Thunder Bay, with operations across Canada. Our aircraft are operated under subparts 604, 703 and 704. We currently operate a wide range of aircraft and opportunities for advancement for successful candidates, are often available.
In this position, a successful First Officer will contribute to the entire trip process – from the initial request, through the end of the flight. You will be part of a team responsible for safe and efficient use of a corporate aircraft. Co-Ordinating with one of the 2 PIC's, you may be expected to flightplan, complete the weight and balance, print paperwork, calculate fuel loads, load bags and ensure the cabin is prepared for the days flights with commissary and cleanliness. We expect a high level of competence and ability to work well on your own as well as in the team. Once in the swing of things, it is essential that you will be able to function t a high level without specific direction.
This position can be demanding at times, but there is also a significant amount of down time. The expectation is to fly approximately 250hrs per year. You will get to fly in a beautiful, very capable and well maintained aircraft to some spectacular destinations.
An ideal candidate will possess the following qualities:
• 1500 + hours total time
• Prefer 250hrs Multi-Engine Turbine time
• Canadian ATPL or CPL with Iatra or ATPL exams written
• Canadian Passport with the ability to obtain a RAIC and CANPASS.
• Must live or be willing to move within 1hr drive of YYZ
• Self-starter who works well under pressure.
• Self-directed and able to make critical decisions, sometimes with limited information.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, time-critical environment
• Strong interpersonal communication skills.
• Exceptional logistical, organizational, communication and time management skills.
• Must possess proven problem solving and troubleshooting skills.
• This position is demanding and can be stressful at times – an ideal candidate must be able to work well under pressure and to maintain composure in the face of challenge.
The salary will be discussed in the interview with selected candidates. We will provide training at FlightSafety or CAE and in exchange you will agree to stay with us for 2 years. If you decide a different direction in your career is better suited for you, that's fine by us, all we ask is you pay the pro-rated portion of your training costs. We are investing in you as a future Captain and we hope you'll want to stay with us for a long time. We're not looking to dig our nails into someone, we just need to provide value and insurance to our owners.
We expect a lot but we also have a lot of fun with what we do. Personality will win every time over hours in the logbook, so please be sure to show your personality in the resume and cover letter and of course in the interview. To me this is the most important part, so if you've read this far, you may have a leg up. You must be a personable and fun human being to be around! We spend a lot of time on the road and in the cockpit together within a crew. If you can't get along and play nice with some delightfully eccentric people, then we are not the right fit for you.
