OAT = TAT - 30 * Mach (or 3 times and move the point one place)

Example:

TAT = -15C
Mach = .75

OAT = -15C - (30 * .75) = -15 - 22.5 = -37.5C

If you usually fly a Mach number +- 0.02 you can figure out a fixed amount to add to the TAT and use it every time.

Result is approximate, but very close to the real values.

Hope it helps.

OAT = TAT + (50 - Mach*100) or TAT - (Mach*100 - 50)

Ex. Mach .80 with TAT of -15 C:

OAT = -15 + (50 - .80*100)
= -15 - 30
= -45 C

In aircraft with both indications, I have found that this formula's result is always withing 1 or 2 degrees. And like the other post says, if you always fly at about the same Mach number you can just memorize how much you have to subtract from the TAT (in the case of Mach .80 +- .02, subtract 30 +- 2 degrees).
