Well, I guess he's not your hero because it is very much fake. Besides the fact that the plane wouldn't be able to fly with one wing and that the "landing" he made wouldn't be possible, the background can be easy distinguished as fake.
Re: If this is not Fake, he's my hero
Well its fake but don't be so sure a plane can't fly without wings.
The fuse does just nicely with enough power, eg:

If you really want to know how to do a one wing landing watch this 5 min video.

If you dont think these extras or sukhois can fly with one wing then how do they do he knife edge. Wings contribute no lift.
Re: If this is not Fake, he's my hero
The Pitts has always been great at knife edge. Big fat airfoil sandwidched by two end plates.
Look at that take-off video, he's probably a 1100lb plane with 380hp or so and he's carrying a 40degree angle of attack knife edge.
Actually he's probably cheating a bit, more like 75 degrees instead of 90, that gives you a bit of lift from the wings and also allows your oil pressure to stay out of the red.
As far as the models flying knife edge, i've actually seen that exact type of accident. Wing break, then pilot flying around knife edge without a wing to a flop landing on the grass. So in theory its possible for a full scale plane to do it .. but why bother, just bail, much less trouble

Here are two different videos of RC models losing one wing in the air, and then continuing to fly knife-edge. There seem to be more and more of these videos popping up on youtube.cgzro wrote: As far as the models flying knife edge, i've actually seen that exact type of accident. and this one (you'll have to ignore the first 30 seconds which is just promo)

These RC models are built light enough and have enough power to quite easily hover (standing on their tails) at about 1/2 throttle, so knife-edge flight is easy as long as the modeller has the skill and coordination.
Yes the F15 video was real.
But the very first video in this thread showing the man-carrying airplane landing with one wing was CGI-generated and was part of a marketing campaign.

Yes, I agree. Fake as hell.
the first thing that gives it away is the landing portion, I'd imagine that the gear would fold through the fuse pretty easy with that.
