Cool vid but looks to me they did it on purpose during a testing phase. No big deal. Now if this was done by someone with livery colours, then we got a problem.

Kowalski: Sir, we may be out of fuel.
Skipper: What makes you think that?
Kowalski: We've lost engine one, and engine two is no longer on fire.

I seem to recall the tail strike further aft was unintentional. The intention I think was just for the big orange pad to contact the runway. No biggie though. That's what testing is about and why they get paid the big bucks.

Interesting... they get paid to damage the airplane. Must be nice, you have a reason to screw up on the T/O but yes, intentional nonotheless

That's correct, I remember that now. I think it was their first run at it and they overrotated a bit more than intended and buzzed the empannage as well as the block.

The double contact was not planned. Check out this clip from a documentary about the plane:

Interesting spin on being paid to damage aircraft. You will fit in nicely at avcanada. I'd say they are paid to test the limits of the aircraft and that is what they did here.

Interesting. Is that why the common opinion is that they actually hit twice.

I can imagine their conversation...
"Rotate sir"
"Excellent, tail strike... beautiful,"
"Ooooops, we hit twice sir"
"Shit, I guess we'll have to pretend that we didn't know"
"Ok, good plan, after all, they wanted us to tailstrike"
