Attn. All Jazz VSP'ers, Resigned, Retired etc.
Some of you may not be aware that you will be receiving a tax assessment for parking as a benefit. There is a move afoot to object to this. This is a time sensitive issue so feel free to PM me with your name, ph. # and employee # so that you do not lose out on the opportunity to file an objection. I will contact you.
Re: Attn. All Jazz VSP'ers, Resigned, Retired etc.
From what I heard, not a single AC pilot who objected had positive news on this issue.
That said I wish you the best since it's pretty much BS and will be affecting more and more people it seems.

Re: Attn. All Jazz VSP'ers, Resigned, Retired etc.
Unlike with AC, the Mass Objection is being handled by Jazz itself in partnership with Air Transat (for their employees). It is up to each and every Jazz employee to file their objection for each CRA Tax Reassessment received directly with the CRA using the legal documents provided by the Company and thereafter forward their info to the Company so they can be added to the Tax Court Challenge that the Company is paying for. The only cost to the employee it the time it takes to fill out the form, 5 min and registered mail.
What is key is that you have to file an objection otherwise you will not benefit if there is a favorable outcome.
One last point: These Companies are not acting out of benevolence for their employees. They were benefitting from tax deductions which they obviously can no longer claim.
I gather a similar action was filed by Telus, and they had a favorable outcome.

Hey there,
I am no longer with Jazz, but I did receive a reassessment from the CRA for 2011 in which it is saying I owe $140.
Is this what you are all talking about? I know when i was there, they were talking about making our parking a taxable benefit, but never heard anything after that.

Me too! They said the T4 reported Income was adjusted. They want almost $500!! Wtf!?
Re: Attn. All Jazz VSP'ers, Resigned, Retired etc.
Ditto for me, I owe about $250.
You gotta love the government, we have to pay interest on a debt that didn't exist at the time the interest started to accumulate.

You need to file an objection...first one for 2013 and 2011 & 2012 to be filed when info has been received from the company. The 2013 one is time sensitive, so I suggest you get on it right away.

Both objections are time sensitive. The 2013 objection has to be filed within 120 days of receipt of your 2013 notice of assessment. The 2011/12 objection has to filed within 90 days. At least our company and Air Transat are doing something about it.

Teacher,
Check the jazznet site for all the information. It will take you about 15 minutes to fill out print and email back to the cpy. Send the completed papers by registered mail back to the CRA.

Re: Attn. All Jazz VSP'ers, Resigned, Retired etc.
Question. Do we pay the amount owing
And hope for a refund if we win? Or Do we hold off and see the outcome? I know common sense says pay now but just wanted to be sure.

Re: Attn. All Jazz VSP'ers, Resigned, Retired etc.
Pay now. The interest the CRA charges you in rather high, and you don't get it back even if you were to win the objection. So pay now, fight later.

And if we are one of the "VSP'ers, Resigned, Retired" group?flyer 1492 wrote:Teacher,

I guess if you are not actively employed you could contact Jazz HR to see if you can be part of the mass objection. Jazz is jointly paying the legal bill with AT.Bajan Pilot wrote:"And if we are one of the "VSP'ers, Resigned, Retired" group?"
