Not many yyz's either. Any instances of new hires with yyz standing bids getting them awarded? Or still long wait?

Still so much in YUL?
Wow
I thought YVR would open more before YYC did
YUL is severely understaffed right now on all types plus a number of FOs leaving out west. So they need to expand and fill the positions lost by base transfers.

Heard of a recent new hire getting back to YYZ before the end of his training, I'm sure the PML is helping spots open up in Toronto.

Depends on the aircraft... In my opinion, unless you want to live in Toronto, there's no point of giving up a YUL, YYC or YVR base. Being off reserve is important, but everyone has his or her priorities. The nice thing about Jazz is that there is an answer to everyone's lifestyle choices.

Pretty sure it's because lots of us in YUL have standing bids to other bases. So as they come up for filling, it goes to the sr pilot already here and the company has to fill that newly vacant spot in YUL. YUL is severely understaffed. Before noon today there were already 5 flights cancelled due to no crews.

Yep yep,
Heard from a buddy for example the bid package for May Schedule has 9 Reserve lines for cpt (meaning there will be 9 cpt on reserve) and on the FO crj schedule there is 0 reserve lines. Also just for comparison there is 58 cpt and only 47 FO I believe on the CRJ. Another buddy ran into 2 FO'S who have been with the company for about 5 months and they are both transferring to CYYC in May. So yep people get Montreal in the first draw and than most leave to other bases. Oh well they must not like Vin Eh Poutin; )

Today in YUL alone before noon there were 5 cancelled flights due to no crews. Next month I, along with a few others are transferring to YVR and YYC so they will be short staffed again. It's slowly coming under control but with the movement to AC, retirements, the new RJ's and the Q's from Sky, the base expansion in YVR, it's increased the pilot (and FA) requirement greatly as well as made a ton of training events.

YHZ is expanding their FA base significantly, and the new daily rumor is that we will be taking over the east coast flying EVAS was doing with the -100's. Who knows. So much conjecture and rumors around here it's hard to take anything too seriously.

All we can expect is YUL will continue to be the most junior FO base for the near future. It is interesting times at Jazz, latest rumours are a large Captain backfill coming this month, so expect more open FO spots.

Just announced that we will be short because of Air Canada hiring and an equipment bid is coming out third week of April. There will be no reductions in this bid only growth :)

Hi everybody,

Anyone knows if the current hiring number will remain (more or less) the same next year (2018) for Jazz with the first wave of retirement at Air Canada starting in 2017?

Cheers!

And that's just to fill current vacancies so we are no longer short staffed. Everyone is blocking well into the high 80's right now per month when high 70's used to be the norm (as I was told, I have not been around long enough to see it less than 85).
