Well folks, just thought that I would start a new thread.

Our results are in on out TZ Agreement Vote.

Of the eligible pilots able to vote we had a 90% voters turn out, with an astounding turn out of just shy of 86% in Favor.

Good for me.

Good for me, good for the pilot group, good for all professional pilots in Canadian aviation.

We now have a good contract that ALPA and Jazz Air LP can both take ownership of.

This pilot group forges ahead, unified.

Some highlights of the Agreement:

- Total of $131,000,000 additional dollars will be spent by Jazz on Pilot wages, benefits and expenses over the next five years, an average of $26,000,000 per year.

- Complete Pilot payroll including wages, benefits and expenses will rise from an annual level of approximately $125,000,000 today to approximately $153,000,000 after July 1, 2014. This equates to a 22.4% increase.

- The total dollar breakdown is $58,000,000 in additional wages, $29,000,000 in additional pension funding, $19,000,000 toward reduction of pilot benefit premiums, $14,000,000 in additional non-taxable expense payments and finally $11,000,000 toward various allowances.

Other improvements include:

- All pilots, including Reserve block holders, will receive a minimum of the blocking average for their roster each month.

- Fatigue Units will now be applied to each duty period, maximum of 19. Example, a 12 hour duty period could have a maximum of 7 landings.

- Overnights away from base minimum rest period increased to 11 hours.

- Maximum Reserve aggregate time reduced from 22 hours to 20 hours.

- Training outside the window eliminated with the exception of one day a year for home-based recurrent ground school.

- Significant increases for involuntary move allowances and expenses.

Plus many other improvements all over the contract. A complete re-write, word for word -- comma for comma, on all 195 pages of this contract was done.

26 million per year divided by 1500 pilots is a $17,333 increase per pilot per year. Or about $86,000 per pilot over 5 years.

That is absolutely impressive.

Since I am always skeptical of numbers thrown at me. It is healthy to be so I think.

Does that sound reasonable based on what you heard at the road shows? To be clear I am not calling BS or anything. Just would like to know from the troops if in their mind that number makes sense for corroboration. Costing things out can be very subjective.

So you know my motivation.

ME TOO PLEASE!

I can't believe someone posted this on Airline Pay before the contract was even Ratified.

That is a good thing. Regular old pay is taxed highly, per diems, etc. are not. Congrats on a great contract.

Hi Brick Head,

These numbers are what Jazz said this deal would cost when it was sent out for ratification. ALPA costed the deal out as well to see if these numbers Jazz were using were factual, and on the roadshows ALPA said they agree that the numbers are very close.

One more thing to take into account with that, is that First Officers are getting the best deal here as roughly 57% of all gains are going to First Officers in some way, shape, or form. This was one of the Pilot group's top priorities, to re-balance the First Officer side of things, junior and senior. Our guys definitely looked out for their young, I gotta say.

Cheers

The point of the contract was to get overall increases .. but where possible increase the net pay over the gross pay. Hence keep the governments hands out of our money. Its a good contract going forward .. it also takes care of some big ticket items and frees our bargaining power up on the next go. (ie. Never have to worry about the pension again)

Cheers, Loc

The pay scale and the perdiems are accurate on Airline Pilot Central.

Keep in mind that the numbers on the payscale and the perdiems will go up 2% on July 01 of every year for the duration of the CA.

On top of that,

The pay rates will be adjusted annualy to reflect fleet composition. For example, they will be adjusted next year when the 757's arrive.

A new hire Jazz FO now makes more than a new hire AC mainline FO?

According to what we saw that is correct.

Yes the pay goes up 2% per year but that is for captains. Fos
Go up faster, I believe it is 4% till year 5, than 5% to the end, topping out now at $75 not the 68 shown on that airline pay site.

Also when you look at that site you now cap out as a F/O in 11 years not the previously 16 years.

............and many other non taxable allowances and expenses that are not listed, a big uplift in per diem (already mentioned) and other quality of life improvements. Overall a good contract which could have been better without government interference.

With the yearly 2% inflationary raise plus my yearly jump up the pay scale, I'll get about 6% more base salary every year for the duration of this collective agreement. Add that to the non-taxable benefits, and I'm looking at about 15-22% more IN MY POCKET and the end of the day. Plus my pension got a MASSIVE uplift, as long as it's there in 33-38 years when I need it!

And a new hire WJ pilot make's more than a new hire AC FO!

Separate companies, why are you surprised?

Just for Clarification,

There is the YOS (Year of Service) pay rates increases that each pilot will receive on their DOH day.

The YOS for CAPTS is 2%/year until the top of the scale at 16 years (17 years in 2015)

FO"S Year 1,2,3 is 2% then it jumps to 4% on years 4,5,6,and 7, and then 2.5% for years 8,9,10,and 11. With 11 years being the top of the FO scale.(12 in 2015)

There is also an annual 2% pay uplift on July 1st of every year that every pilot will receive.

For example,

If the company decides to hire on July 19th again, These pilots would start at $40.00/hr (Note: there is no longer a flat pay rate for years 1 and 2. Everyone gets the hourly wage guaranteed to the blocking average for the month to a minimum of 77.5 hours.)

On July 1 2011, these pilots would get a raise to $41.20 (2011 pay rates). On July 19th, 2011 these pilots would move up to $46.35 (YOS 2 payscale for 2011), and so on...

Probably more than what you needed to know.

That is a good thing. Regular old pay is taxed highly, per diems, etc. are not. Congrats on a great contract.

Most people on here will agree per diems are not pay but are there to reimburse personal expenses. But if you are getting $78 a day many are going to pocket a good chunk of that. What are the legalities of paying employees this way? Obviously Jazz can save a ton of money paying very low regular pay while employees survive on non-taxable income. $40 a flight hour is still shockingly low for someone with as much experience as most new-hires at Jazz have.

Would there be anything stopping a company from paying $1 per flight hour and $200 a day per diems? Are there laws limiting per diems?

Our new per diems are slightly less than the federal gov daily per diem rate. The gov sets the rate every 6 months based on 3 meals a day(healthy meals) Try and eat three healthy meals on less. At the end of the contract our per diems will be what the current gov rate is, hopefully meals won't have doubled by then. I imagine if you were to pay more than their daily rate you might have to justify it, like try buying a meal in Rankin vs Winnipeg.

Ah, ok thanks. I guess they won't be able to pocket that much.
