Delayed by mutual agreement between ALPA and the company.

The bus is crashing however, and being thrown off it might in the long run be a blessing.

Agreed, new hiring due to all the F/O's bailing. Just don't come here with a career in mind, get your type rating and a bit of time in your logbook and get out. Only come as a last resort though.

Most of the turnover at Jazz is seen in the bottom 500. There is some at the higher seniority as well. There are quite a few senior FO's at Jazz so it would be inaccurate to suggest all are going to bail. For many, there really is no where else to go unless one is willing to see a sizeable drop in income, benefits and lifestyle.

Short of a miracle there will be no growth at Jazz and I would not be surprised to see the introduction of a full B scale in the next contract.

Exactly. Where would one suggest we go? What if someone has already did the token AC interview and got the PFO? All that's left is WJ, and that's a tough nut to crack. What's left.. SkyRegional? Encore? Starting at year 1 F/O wages at Porter? Uprooting the family and moving to China or the Middle East?

For those Jazz pilots who already have 3 or more years invested at this company, it becomes a calculated risk of deciding what to do. Stay at Jazz and hope it survives past 2020 while keeping the benefits associated with their seniority, or bail out to a lower paying job with worse working conditions, but a reasonably assured monthly paycheque?

This seems to be fast coming a textbook case of "between a rock and a hard place," and there are no easy answers.

Although this is a good idea Obbie, Qatar is now hiring type rated pilots according to their career section...How does a Q400 or a RJ qualify for that?

As long as there is a supply of type rated Boeing / Airbus pilots that the ME carriers can draw on, there really are limited options. It is easier said than done to suggest the solution is to go abroad. That is a cop out solution when you consider the fact that even in those regions, compensation has been on the decline. Look at Cathay, D scale. Are we to uproot our families?

Perhaps some Westjetters might like to dispel rumours of changes to New hire compensation.

My take home last month was $10,400 US as a 3rd year FO
with a 3 bedroom condo company provided.

Just where do you get the idea over seas flying doesn't pay ?

Well Obbie, by comparison to what is being paid in Canada, sure, I agree you are making more. However, why don't you ask someone who might have been there 15+ years long before you showed up and see what they were paid. Furthermore, for many it is not an option given family circumstances. Is everyone living happily ever after over there? Not always. I have my share of friends over there, who now have the big alimony cheque to pay too...

It has been my impression that the alimony cheque was always on the
horizon for these guys, they just chose not to see it, and the move
simply hurried up the inevitable.

My wife came here as I did, open minded and without negative pre-thought.

See has found a job she enjoys, made many new friends from all corners
of the globe, and engages both the community and the culture. It has been
one of the most social chapters of her life without question.

But she is a woman of enviable character, and I know many are not.
