Any hiring news??
Wondering if anyone has any updated on whether jazz is going to be hiring this fall at all? I've been in the hiring pool for 3 months now with no news at all and starting to worry a little bit...

Re: Any hiring news??
The winter flying schedule should have been sent from Air Canada at the end of July, the bid should be out by August 15. Hope this helps.

I heard of a rumour of a September ground school from a training guy.
However, the general rule of thumb is that if you haven't heard a good rumour by noon, start your own. Make of this what you wish and good luck!

Re: Any hiring news??
I was in the hiring pool for over a year.
Don't sweat. Keep in touch with the HR girls if you wish. I need semi-regularly and was one of the first people called.
Some equipment is still understaffed but I don't know what the winter flying looks like.

There is also a chance for no bid at all, depending on how much we need fo's. One thing I am pretty sure of though, I don't see any upgrades or VSP's this fall. The block hours for this winter are supposed to be pretty much a copy-paste of last year.

Re: Any hiring news??
Well i'll hang on to the hope that the rumour has some truth to it. I guess I'll have to hang on until the 15th and find out for real. Im keeping in touch with HR every couple weeks or so, still the same answer everytime though...

Re: Any hiring news??
There's going to definitely be some new FOs given the recent attrition, since the last bid. And the amount of WDO calls I've been getting.

Heard of interviews soon so hiring possible.MCB wrote:I heard of a rumour of a September ground school from a training guy.

Well that's some good news I guess. Does anyone know how long it takes to get the ball rolling once the bid is out? That's assuming they'll need pilots.

I have heard co-joes are jumping ship. The dead end job with the low pay that gets to the high pay that they will never see has lost the appeal. The sched is awesome as long as there is people below you
Is encore still taking DEC?

Speaking of low pay and inferior working conditions. The guys at Encore deserve a lot more than they are getting.leftoftrack wrote:Is encore still taking DEC?
As for cojos leaving there has always been movement at the bottom from those wanting to fly bigger planes.

Re: Any hiring news??
That is true. It seems like everyone's always chasing something bigger and better. I've been working in little towns up north for over 4 years now and I just can't wait to work for a company that treats you properly, gives you a nice schedule, benefits and have a base where I want to live...teacher wrote:As for cojos leaving there has always been movement at the bottom from those wanting to fly bigger planes.
Some people just want it all and take the good things for granted.
Don't forget where you came from

How do you know a bid is coming out? The Union indicated in the most recent "Contact" that there were no requirements at this time for an August bid.metalpedal wrote:Bid comes out in a couple days though..looking forward to it!

Re: Any hiring news??
I don't know..I'm not sure how the bids go exactly but I thought it was twice a year, once in Jan and once in Aug.
Also, I was hoping this was true

Not very good news if it's not coming out. I was hoping to start getting things rolling.flyer 1492 wrote:the bid should be out by August 15. Hope this helps.
Does that mean that they don't plan on hiring for this year or is it just postponed? If you have any info, it would be very appreciated.DHC-1 Jockey wrote:The Union indicated in the most recent "Contact" that there were no requirements at this time for an August bid.

Re: Any hiring news??
I can't answer that question as I don't know. Here is an answer from the union: "At this point, there should be no substantive changes requiring an August equipment bid. However, the final decision will not be made until Jazz receives the block hours forecast from Air Canada at the end of July."metalpedal wrote:Does that mean that they don't plan on hiring for this year or is it just postponed?
So, I guess we'll see by midnight tomorrow if there is a bid or not, and if there is a requirement for hiring.
Re: Any hiring news??
Attrition hiring happens independently of any formal equipment bids. So the more relevant question is what is the pilot attrition rate at Jazz.

Well here we are, August 15th. Can anyone tell me if there was a bid that came out or not?
