Hi guys, from the 27th of July to the 2nd of Aug the famous Oshkosh airshow is being held as usual. I've been dreaming for a while to go there and camp for the whole week or so.
Being a fairly new pilot (3 yrs) and having no experience crossing the borders. I was just wondering what would be the things to consider for planning my x-country especially with renting a plane from my local flight club, I heard I need some kind of approval letter from the club? What should I expect for radio calls and airspaces differences for VFR flights? How much is 100LL down south? Customs is it a pain or fairly simple and are there any fees? Thanks.

I suggest you grab a cup of coffee with people who cross the border regularly and talk it over.
Crossing the border has become a bit annoying now. You have to fill up an eletronic apis when entering and exiting the United States now. Getting help is not easy also! Even the Customs border agents have no clue how to use it. This is the response I got from one of them, "it's just as foreign to me as it is to you."

Avgas can be really cheap, but it depends where you go shopping. Check out: www.airnav.com for prices along your route. Some places can be real cheap and that's where I go.
Crossing the border is not difficult, but it has to be done correctly. First offence is 5000$ followed by a 10000$ for a second offence.
Always call the Port of entry or Customs landing rights airport in advance. Let them know directly what your doing!
