It´ll take more than this to turn my ugly face red
Anyway, keeping the keys inside the planes at all times seems to me like asking for trouble, and they got some
At the FBO/rent outfit I worked for (25 or so aircraft including twins) us office boys were told by the owner, who had been around, not to hand out keys to anybody who seemed too tired or intoxicated, even, or suspicious in any other way. Of course some pilots forgot to return the keys but we had double if not triple sets available and temporarily blacklisted those who wouldn´t return said keys asap
And yes, the twins´ doors were locked on more than one occasion
Now, if someone is determined enough to steal a plane no lock nor even lack of keys can prevent it but making it easy is not a very good idea
Just remembered, - many moons ago when I took the ferry to Central Airways on Toronto island for the first time, wanting to rent one of their 172s, they made me take an I.Q. test (for the record, I passed

)
I suppose there was no way to predict that this guy in Thunder Bay could snap and fly away... but someone in the office handing out keys might have noticed?
