Really? Is this for all flight crew, pilots and back end?

I know a few people who will be really happy about this...

Well, from an outsider who travels extensively, beards, if your CO allows them, will just compound the problem of to many pilots looking like slobs as there are already more than a few that do not grasp the meaning of '' presentable''. Your CO should enforce a uniform dry cleaning item and a proper shoe selection. More than a few of you look like they have just come out of a stable or barn when us unwashed see them walking by in the terminal. High price help than cannot spend the fifteen dollars for a dry clean, impressive. S, add the beard factor and now what

With all due respect to all the others who have a sense of pride, my apologies.

Totally agree with Duranium, there is a not that small percentage of the pilot group as well as the In flight that need some counselling.
I know It is addressed with the flight attendants but not to my knowledge with the pilots. Just because you are a sheep farmer in your other life, does not mean you should not be well turned out in the profession that allows you to be said farmer ( apologies to the sheep farmers who are)

If they cared how we look they wouldn't supply MC hammer suit pants (thankfully this is changing now, although maybe a bit too much to the other extreme).

If they had a real uniform fitting like some other airlines, with a tailor and actual adjustments made that would be a start. So many pilots walking around in unhemmed or poorly hemmed balloon looking pants, shirts 2x too big (that haven't been ironed in a year), jacket unbuttoned etc. A lot could be done to up the image if it would actually get enforced.

Sorry for the grammar.

Once upon a time the uniform was tailored to fit but then some bean counter decided off the shelf would be cheaper

I think allowing facial hair is a huge mistake.
Also, the uniform police need to be out in full force.
There are many slobs out there and it reflects poorly on the brand and your fellow colleagues..
Passengers see and notice much more than you think.

Seriously? Beards can be well kept and neat, and the new guidelines are strict. The idea that facial hair is automatically unprofessional went out with the cold war.

Beard hair must be moderately styled, clean and neatly trimmed/manicured, and should not exceed 0.5 inches in length. Unshaven is not considered acceptable lol. So i guess you must grow your beard on days off? lol

Moustaches must be neatly groomed, top lip visible, and not extending past corners of mouth. (no waxed, handlebar or "extreme" moustaches allowed) lol.

Sometimes always never...

Sometimes: both tunic buttons fastened
Always: top button fastened
Never: both buttons undone

Does anyone else agree?

Unshaven is not acceptable.

This means that you need to have a neatly shaped beard. Shave your neck and have a good beard line on your jaw and cheeks.

You can't come in completely unshaven.

You can grow it during work if you do what you say here. I'm still going to wait for some other people to rock a beard before I start. I had one before and kinda accepted the fact that going to an airline meant no beard for the rest of my life. So I'm kinda excited to see it trend this way.

Side note, I could probably go look and find it but does anyone know the tattoo policy off the top of their head? I've seen a few pilots walking around with ones poking below their short sleeves.

%100 agree. Nothing worse than both undone, coupled with 2 week old wrinkled pants that bunch at the ankle.

I went in with a stubble and saw another guy with one. It definitely is awkward and felt kind of wrong. For now, I'm only doing it with captains I know.

I think it will take a while for the culture to sink in, perhaps a couple of years. It's all good, as long as a captain doesn't use that against you, to look for other reasons to discredit or report you,
