It was a Lake Amphib - the two occupants got out with serious but non life threatening injuries. One of the occupants is a regular contributor on these forums - PilotDAR He is pretty beat up but going to survive - he's been transferred to Toronto for surgery. I will update when I know more - I am in close contact with his family. Well wishes appreciated - armchair quarterbacking not so much - thanks!

Sorry to hear PilotDAR was involved - I caught the original story last night and was hoping to hear the opposite.

He's an extremely credible member of this forum who consistently gives back with educated, experienced, and humble contributions to those threads with which he gets involved. Here's hoping his recovery is swift and trouble-free, and that he's back with us very soon!

Crap, Jim. Had a feeling, reading "firefighter". (Jim is a longtime volunteer). So sorry to hear this.

Praying for you this morning.

Wishing Jim and the other occupant a speedy recovery. I had the opportunity once to fly with him - he's a great guy and excellent pilot.

I heard the story last night, and was concerned about the possibility, with location and mention of firefighter.

We haven't met, but Jim has done some work for our company, and is a constant presence on this board - a reasoned, experienced voice amidst the sometimes silly and acrimonious debate. It's always a pleasure to read his posts.

Wishing a speedy recovery to Jim and the other fellow involved.

Just read this and can not believe what I am reading.

We never know when these things happen, and when they do and we know the people personally it is terrible.

I am so sorry to hear about Jim's accident. He gave me an introduction to flying the Lake and I can say without reservation that he is an outstanding instructor. His passion to make light aircraft pilots better both by individual instruction, as well as thoughtful wise advice in a variety of fora is all too rare today.

Jim, I wish you a speedy recovery and a return to the skies that you love so much.
