Hard for me to comment as a rarely wear the hat, however, my uniform shipped without a hat. When my hat did arrive it was made in China, and looks like I am in the Russian Navy. I don't know if I should go out and get some should boards and jack boots, but fak me. Also the hat fits like crap and the Chinese "velvet" on the inside leaves quite the mark on my forehead if worn for too long (tried it out around the house for 5min, just to reaffirm how much I dislike it)

KenoraPilot, if I'm not mistaken you're fairly new to Jazz, I say this with all due respect.
Wear your hat with pride and if you don't want to wear the hat, go work somewhere that it's not part of the uniform, SR and WJ/Encore don't require it. I find it disrespectful to all of the pilots who do wear it and frankly the majority of pilots I've talked to about this agree, even the ones who don't like the hat but wear it anyway would agree with this.

Express carriers now have a common uniform and grooming standard. That standard is identical to AC.

I'm not sure what all the fuss is about the hat. Seems to be a black version of the old one.

Mine is very different from the old one.
The head size (fit) is the same, however when you put them against each other, the new one is probably 20% larger up top than the old one. The badge is smaller compared to the old one and the front is bigger so it makes the badge look even smaller.

I get all the "wear it pride" guys like to throw around, I did wear my old one with pride but it's hard to take the new one seriously when you look like Jim Carrey as the limo driver in Dumb and Dumber. It's easy to see that it's just poorly made compared to the old one.

I find It odd that my hat and others are almost the same size as our previous hats yet some pilots seem to have much larger hats. Also I found the material missing from the back pockets, it's been added to the front pockets to make them 2 feet deep. Any change in the bottom or my pocket is almost touching my knee

My hat was made in China. What about yours av8ts? Are you at mainline, or and Express?

Left side is the new one.

The difference is not as noticeable if you wore the large bag of the old uniform. I, like many other pilots wore the small hat, which is significantly smaller than the new option.

I fly for Express. My hat was also made in China. When I first put the hat on neither my wife or I could see any difference in size. Putting the old and new hats together we could see that the new hat was just a little larger.

Why can't they just take this hat and make it black?

There are a lot more female pilots now than ever. I'm sure they will offer that hat soon enough.

Is there a socks dress code at Air Canada and it's Express partners?

Black. I usually rock some argyles to add a little spice to life, and haven't been written up yet. :D

Ok thanks. I saw some really bright ones today. I figured it was just some self expression. :D

There are a few of us wearing other socks though I generally keep the colours pretty conservative.
