I'm curious, did they also by a Westward ATR?

I've saw on in Tbay a few times now, than yesterday saw it sitting at northstar.

Pretty sure it's just operating for Northstar on contract or charter.

Word is they bought 2 ex First Air ATR72s to haul freight out of Thompson, with new ownership they dumped the contract with Calm Air and are trying it out for themselves. Big contract for a company like Calm Air to lose only to be pushed out by an operator with no experience in that realm with a new type. Interested to see how it pans out.

Calm Air doesn't know you have to clear the ice out of the engine intake, North Star doesn't know you have to clear it off the wing. Both operate 705 like bush plane. At least it is only freight.

Those freight loads of pop and chips are a lifeline to the north. Show some compassion.

They’re not from first air. They’re actually from Asia, they’re going to be the first -72 500 series operating out of Canada coming this year. They do mostly freight, but passenger charters have started on a dash out of YQT as well.

From what I understand, all the Pc12 positions are based out of YQT. That would be your first position once you are off the ramp, which is supposed to take 6-12 months. Not sure if/how they do direct entry.

Any idea how they're crewing the ATR and the Dash 8? Are the ATRs flying yet? I know the Dash 8 I being operated under contract, any plans to operate it themselves?

Saw they are operating a Dash 8 300 now along with the 200 from R1...does anyone know if North Star are crewing the 8s themselves ?

And does North Star have any rotational flying positions ?
