Been years since I worked at Thunder and will also say they are a top notch op. I loved my time there as I was treated amazingly well by Bob M and the rest of the crew.

Be02 driver, from my understanding there is both the bond to start, and the bonus at the end. Very well paying position.

I too was treated very well by BobM, so much so that he gave me one of his jobs when he retired! We are grateful to have him and Laurie return to share their knowledge, even if it is only for a short while!

Yes you are correct, flyinhigh. There is a bond (1-year promissory note), as part of our multi-faceted effort to retain experienced pilots. Despite having monetary penalties for leaving, and significant bonuses for staying, it is hard for some pilots to resist that shiney jet syndrome (or as has become more common in recent years, shiney Q400 syndrome), sometimes only a couple of months after starting! If anyone has a better method, I am all ears; I sincerely doubt we are alone in this situation.

Thunder's upgrades are entirely merit-based. While the next appropriate person to upgrade is often our most senior FO just by virtue of them having the most practice, there is no rule saying it has to be this way. We've had some folks who needed a little more work than average before they were ready for that next step, just as we've had superstars who were fantastic right out of the gate and able to jump at least a part of the line. For the near future I would say very fast upgrades will likely be available for people who meet the requirements. For your own individual case you'd be best off applying and we can talk.

Do you pair the people that skipped the line with the people that got skipped?

As with many things, it depends. No skip should ever be permanent; every pilot we employ comes from a little different background and some need a little more line experience before upgrade than others. In most cases the pilots themselves would agree.

I don't know how many of those aircraft are still airworthy... I know at least 3 in that list that are no longer in service.
