The "Weekly" B777, B767, B744, A330, A320, A31 Asian Job Post

Post by HansDietrich »

Well, good morning on this fine and crispy as f**k October the 12th! WINTER IS COMING!

Once again, the great people at APAS are posting job ads that 90% of forum users here salivate over.

Clearly, since this ad pops up more often than my uncle Helmut's schwanz, while watching news clips of Oktoberfest girls carrying beer jugs, or Wasaya's "Career Opportunity" ads, something tells me they're not able to acquire the talent they are hoping for. Sarcasm aside, I'm actually curious, why these people can't find their qualified pilots.

1. Could it be the 8 consecutive days off (+4 non-consecutive off) a month?
2. Could it be the 500+ hours on type they require??
3. Could it be the relatively low pay $102,000 US a year for a 777 F/O (I'm sure that's way lower than the ME / North America / Europe pays their 777 FOs?
4. Could it be the volatile political environment in the Korean Peninsula?

For a King Air driver, this may seem like a great job opportunity and a good gig, but to an Air Canada 777 F/O, I doubt this has the slightest appeal.

This ad / requirements haven't changed in a while. I guess they're not reaching their target audience. Any thoughts?

Expansion? Flow through? Attrition? Maybe like Wasaya and Pasco and Jazz they just need that many people.

Why go? People sick of the long waits here. People who got fired. People sick of snow and high taxes. People who don’t want to live in a ‘destroyed’ country ‘overrun’ by Muslims. NTR from any number of bottom feeder 705 companies (Georgian, Flair, Voyageur just to name some).

salavate over??

I was going to post something this morning about these ads.

Competitive salary? Who are they competing with, Encore Captains?

I believe the one ad was suggesting $82k USD was a competitive salary. It is competitive if you only work 4-8 days a month. It might also be competitive if you only need 3-6 months to upgrade.

I'm interested in going overseas probably more than most people do. It's a combination of Canadian taxes, winter and the opportunity to make more money than I can here at home. Today, you can make more than this flying a 9 passenger turboprop if you look around. You don't even have to look hard. These aren't even enough to get me to look into what airline it's for.

500 hours on type is pretty standard in the contract world.

Sorry APASS, you're going to have to do better than that.

The opportunity to fly a 777? I'm guilty of that sometimes, though I'm old enough now to know that life has different priorities.

In 1995, that would have been the dream working for APASS, being king s*&% on a 777.

Maybe that's why APASS is offering 1995 wages?!

Edit: I stand corrected. It's $78,000 USD.

Wasn't familiar with APAS - just had a look at what is on offer.

It's all **** - wouldn't touch any of these 'contracts' with a 10 foot pole!

Looks like another bunch of bottom feeders.
