Favorite restaurant while on layover
Where do you like to dine while on a layover...and why (menu, location, decor, view, etc.)

Some secrets I'll take to the grave.
Anywhere with cold beer though.

Table 29 in Salmon Arm, I liked walking there with my gear to unwind. Calm ambiance, nightly specials as I recall & it was at the hotel I was staying at. It was a fine dinning place that I didn't feel awkward eating alone at.
But I think you were asking for a general answer. I use to use yelp but now google. I'll look for cafes, trendy ones that have high ratings, a place that specializes in on thing in particular is good. Some place where you can sit with your computer is nice. Downtown, things I can't easily cook, I like being by a fireplace or looking onto the street. Craft beer.

I have always enjoyed the wings and burgers at Turtle Jacks when in Ontario...
Best restaurant view was a place called Faze 3 near the airport in Entebbe Uganda....the patio view overlooking Lake Victoria was something.

But can you eat there for free with Amex though?

MuMu (spelled MyMy in Cyrillic) in Moscow. Reasonably priced by Moscow standards and my eyes roll back in my sockets and toes curl with pleasure with every bite.

I tend to find a favourite place for eats in all of the places we overnight. I generally bid overnights for the food opportunities.
YWG - Chosabi downtown and then wander next door to bronuts. Pick the weirdest one, its probably the tastiest.
YCD- Dinghy Dock is always a good time, but I also enjoy the rolls and a bunch of the other appies at the 'firehouse'.
YYJ - The sidney bakery for delicious breakfast treats if you get in before they're all gone. Or downtown at Jam cafe for breaky.
YKA - A quick ride in to the Noble pig. We also just tried the iron road. Good adult beverages and excellent tacos
YLW - I dig the grateful fed.
YYC - I'll gladly take a cab into kensington and hang out at the higher ground for a hot beverage, treats and the 'view'.
PDX - WAY too many good choices. but YAMA sushi has been by far the best I've ever had. And I pretty much try a new sushi joint every week.
