Hey AW!! I've done 2 contracts out of there, both in the winter. It's probably my least favourite (and that's putting it lightly) place I've ever been based.

Bring everything you need for the stay - the little tuck shop only has real basics like deodorant and soap and chips and Points North shot glasses... You can't buy booze, unless you arrange something with one of the guys up there, and it's pricey.

Do not bring white socks/shirts, etc that you'd like to stay white. The water has a brown tinge to it (iron), so much so that you turn on the shower in the morning, and compare yourself and the water and figure out which is cleaner... if you are, don't shower.

When I was there last year, they only had 4 or 5 TV channels, so a few guys brought up Play Stations and other games and stuff. The biggest highlight of the weather days was going snowshoeing and building igloos. They also have a big book shelf, in case you get... sorry, I mean WHEN you get bored. Maybe you can commandeer a canoe this time of year...

Anyhow... I have a sinking feeling that I may be part of the crew there... so see ya soon! PM for more info if you like.

Hey airwrench make sure you get a room in E block. They have private showers and your own telephone. The place is pretty much a hole though. Watch out some of the cook can be really surly if you piss them off. Ask chip about it!

Don't forget to throw in a pair of slippers before you go... You don't want to be running around there in sock feet! Also anything to kill some spare time, you may have lots of it at this time of year!

I remember the food being pretty good. Nothing like pie and cake for desert at 8 in the morning... Definitely not a nice place to live though.

Only survey pilots fly out of points north. It's sort of a try before you go h#$$ program. Nothing like deep fried shrimp on your steak!

Ideally more going than coming from what I hear.

I bet your having a great time in Points North. A block is the BEST! Hint: if your playing poker, and there's 3 of a kind on the table don't try bluffing with $10
