LOL! No Squirrels, indeed - there's already enough flashing lights and shiny things in an aeroplane to distract the pilots!

Sure, emotional support squirrel is silly af, but "we've bottomed out as a society"? Really? It wasn't the residential school system, or denial of voting and other rights to women, or treating blacks as lesser than, or similar gross injustices of the past that would represent "bottoming out as a society to you"? The squirrel takes the cake?

That's one hell of a sensitive camel. Perhaps it could benefit from an emotional support squirrel?

And what was emotionally supporting the squirrel? I'm not a animal expert by any stretch of the imagination but I'm fairly confident that any squirrel I've come across if you captured it and took it for an airplane ride with 120 other strangers the poor thing would probably be scared s***less the entire way.

Real emotional support animals are a thing. Experts chose suitable breeds from a selection of appropriate species - animals big enough to be easily seen and recognized, small enough to not get in the way of those around you, common species most people like, something relatively easy to take care of and with lots of training experts available, something that won't crawl into the air vents and chew on wires or something stupid like that, and all the other such things to consider - and then they professionally train them to behave well in public while keeping an eye on their human and act in a certain way in response to specific things.

And it works well for those who need it. But these squirrels, snakes, peacocks, and whatever else is now turning into pure silliness. At that point alls you are doing is putting unfair stress on the animal AND needlessly taking away vast swaths of credibility from the people who actually do rely on proper support animals. End result, you're silliness is accomplishing nothing more than making everyone else's life harder. People just need to learn that the world does not revolve around them.

For 99.9% of the travelling public yes you are fine and no you are not special. Oh and yeah, those rules actually are meant for people like you. Use your head and pack reasonably, put on a clean shirt, show up when your ticket said to, behave like a civilized person, say your pleases and thank yous as needed, get on the airplane, sit down, and read your book or take a nap or do whatever else you can do quietly in your allotted space. Thousands of people do it every day, it's really not that hard.

If this lady actually can't sit for two hours without a squirrel in her lap then she really, really should seek some professional help prior to travelling in public alone again.

I was on a flight in the US last month and the flight attendent told me that the flight had a record of 6 dogs on board.

I counted 4 around me but missed the little ones in the carry on bags.
The dogs were better behaved then some humans.

We need a war. That’ll straighten all these pussies out. Give them a common, societal goal. Everyone involved with WW2 was too busy blastin’ nazis or working on the war effort to get offended about Merry Christmas and transgendered pronouns.

Hear, Hear!

I find gentle "pet" type animals very relaxing, and I admit, that during a multi month stay in hospital, when Rocky, the support dog was brought in for a visit, I was delighted! It was truly a relaxing experience. But, if you would like to travel on a commercial flight, come prepared to fit in among the other passengers with grace. If you need an emotional support animal on a commercial flight, something is wrong, and it's going to get much much more wrong if there is a sudden bang!

Sometimes when I’m triggered after seeing Trump on the news or a TV commercial with only white people and I can’t get to my safe space or find a colouring book, I find soft kittens very comforting.
