Forget the background. What about the 737 in the foreground.
Canada has a spirit? What does that even mean?
If the public wants to see the true nature of WestJet "spirit" they just need to read some of the labour or Swoop-related threads here.
Fugly.

Re: 1st WestJet 787 off the Production Line
Yes Canada does have a spirit. What that picture means is Canada is dead and has taken the form of a 737.
Re: 1st WestJet 787 off the Production Line
I think it’s an awesome picture though!
A pretty big accomplishment for us and a big thanks for everyone’s contributions to make this happen.
I agree Mike, it’s been a bit of a tough couple years here but time to move forward! Still lots of good stuff going on. Great time to be a pilot in Canada too with all the opportunity/choice. 2019 hiring numbers are going to keep our hiring folks quite busy - a lot of it due to the growth from the picture above.

It's a BLATANT copy of Qantas' "Spirit of Australia" slogan.complexintentions wrote: ↑Thu Nov 29, 2018 1:41 pm Forget the background. What about the 737 in the foreground.

WestJet has no shame. Zero.

Of course there isn’t any uniqueness here:Lightchop wrote: ↑Thu Nov 29, 2018 9:51 pmIt's a BLATANT copy of Qantas' "Spirit of Australia" slogan.complexintentions wrote: ↑Thu Nov 29, 2018 1:41 pm Forget the background. What about the 737 in the foreground.

Perhaps The Lindbergh Foundation should weigh in on “Spirit of ....” copyright infringement?
Re: 1st WestJet 787 off the Production Line
Perhaps the challenge is with the word "THE" implying perhaps "one and only" spirit of Canada? Perhaps Canada can have many spirits? Perhaps if it were "A" spirit of Canada the reaction may have been different? Not sure. The spirit of the message (yes pun intended!) is good; at the same time possibly its implications on exclusivity may be what bothers some. Then again Air Canada has presumed itself to be one and only for long...
Although it has to be said in the spirit of fairness that perhaps the lettering is not consistent with the free spirit that WestJet usually engenders, as it seems too structured...ok enough with spirit! The 787 looks great, hope there'll be many more.

Thanks for some positivity Dave. I believe the future is bright here once we all get pulling in the same direction again.DaveP wrote: ↑Thu Nov 29, 2018 9:22 pm I think it’s an awesome picture though!

I can’t figure out why some people get so worked up about some letters on a plane.
787 looks great.

I bet those beautiful curvy front windshields are expensive, compared to the flat ones in the 37?? Sure looks great!

It also comes with fold-up sunshades for those side windows like you'd find at Walmart for your car and the worst VNAV logic of any Boeing product I've ever flown.Hugh Jasshole wrote: ↑Sat Dec 15, 2018 4:30 pm I bet those beautiful curvy front windshields are expensive, compared to the flat ones in the 37?? So are the senior pilots who are flying the 67 going to be flying the 87?

Re: 1st WestJet 787 off the Production Line
That’s the way it’s going HughJass, pretty normal.
I think we even have a senior 737 CA going 87 FO.
Another interesting tidbit is that all 787 pilots will be YYC based (regardless of where the plane, flying, or FAs are based)

Re: 1st WestJet 787 off the Production Line
When I do the line and transit check on the 67, I see many of the captains have employee numbers around 500 or lower. And when I ask how they enjoy flying it, the response is unanimous that they all LOVE flying the 67 compared to the NG.
