70+ upgrades as well should keep the left seat around 2.5 years

Re: The Air Canada OTS thread
Bids, in theory, are 12 month forecasts of crewing requirements. So certainly, +400 pilots will he needed before end of next year.
I heard from a friend that knows the uncle’s cousin of the best friend of VP of Ops that 2018 was the most amount of hiring AC has ever done and for 2019 the plan is for even more...

Re: The Air Canada OTS thread
So now that 2018 is almost over, how many new hires did AC bring in throughout the year?
How many are they realistically going to be able to hire and train in 2019?

Re: The Air Canada OTS thread
Around 400+ hired in 2018. Expect much of the same for 2019.

What about the forecast for 2020/2021?
Re: The Air Canada OTS thread
I finnally got the call! I interviewed back in June, and got the "12 month" letter. Got a Jan.7th start day! It was helpful for me to see on this thread when others had interviewed and gotten their PIT courses, so I thought I would do the same.

Are new hires able to get on the 737 without jet time?

Re: The Air Canada OTS thread
I think the requirement for previous jet time is still in place - but is there any reason you want the 737 in particular? As a new hire you'll be stuck on reserve for the first year. Lotta 320 guys bidding over to 31R right away, same with the 67.Curiousflyer wrote: ↑Wed Dec 19, 2018 11:25 am Are new hires able to get on the 737 without jet time?
Re: The Air Canada OTS thread
No 737 doesn’t require jet time anymore (it was a regulatory issue with the sim, no jet time folks had to do 5 take offs and landings in the aircraft. AC didn’t want that so you had to have jet time. But that’s been worked out.)
Welcome to Redneck Airlines. We might not get you there but we'll get you close!

Re: The Air Canada OTS thread
Does AC still allow you/spouse/children to keep flight benefits post-retirement?
Re: The Air Canada OTS thread
If someone applied last year and received no responses went in to check their application only to find that they accidentally checked the not legally entitled to work in Canada box
is updating the application good enough or should they withdrawal and reapply.

Re: The Air Canada OTS thread
The 737 sim was delivered as Level C as it was one of the first 737 Max sims built. In July 2018, it was upgraded to Level D. Therefore no jet time is required for new pilots in the 737.

Re: The Air Canada OTS thread
It depends upon what age you retire and how many years of qualifying service you have when you retire.Does AC still allow you/spouse/children to keep flight benefits post-retirement?
In general, if you stay until pensionable age, you get travel benefits when you retire.
Re: The Air Canada OTS thread
Is there any prior jet experience requirement for bidding directly onto a WB?
Re: The Air Canada OTS thread
Hi all
I just submitted my application this morning and was told I would get an email confirming my application. I still haven't received an email. Does it normally take a while? Or did I do something wrong?

Re: The Air Canada OTS thread
I had the same-never got an email saying application was received. Apparently if you have applied previously, you won’t get an email. When you originally applied, you would have gotten one. Subsequent applications and updated resumes won’t get you the email, that’s how I understand it.
