GA into Edmonton
Hey,
I have an upcoming flight into Edmonton for work.
Flying a light single engine, is YEG or ZVL the better choice? Meeting is downtown, so getting a taxi either way.
thanks,

ZVL. YEG has a heafty landing fee and discourages GA/training. The CFS has restrictions that are good to know. But either way ZVL is much quieter and I don't believe they have landing fees for GA. My house mate keeps his 180 there and he's never mentioned it.

Villeneuve isn't actually half way to Slave Lake. It only feels like it...

Re: GA into Edmonton
Cooking Lake is about 4km closer to downtown than ZVL according to Google Maps.
Re: GA into Edmonton
ZVL for sure. You'll have to arrange your taxi ahead of time as there are no taxis/taxi stands at the airport.

Cooking lake, Villeneuve or Parkland, you will have to order a taxi for ride any which way. That said the taxi driver probably will find CZVL easiest to find

Re: GA into Edmonton
If ease of getting into the city is your thing, I'd probably eat the fees and go to Signature in YEG. Likely the least expensive option would be to get the FBO in Villeneuve to get you a rental car and just drive into the city.
Re: GA into Edmonton
Yeg last time i went there they had dropped waiving the handling fee if you bought fuel, so airport fee, fbo fee, and a long drive to town. Zvl, call th fbo and rent a car, or uber it from CPl6
Re: GA into Edmonton
Good feedback. Thanks. Sounds like calling ahead to Villeneuve would work.

YXD is the edmonton downtown airport, closed years ago.

Re: GA into Edmonton
You'd be better trying to get a taxi to ZVL over Cooking Lake. Flew into Cooking for Grey Cup, and had a heck of a time trying to arrange a pick up there beforehand.Hugh Jasshole wrote: ↑Mon Jan 14, 2019 10:06 pm Cooking Lake is about 4km closer to downtown than ZVL according to Google Maps.
