Re: Bid 2019
No. Total number of GGN pilots opting to join Jazz will be deducted from the 376. That will determine OTS hiring at Jazz for remainder of 2019.

I think we will know this on Friday, if a GGN pilot is giving the info here ...

Re: Bid 2019
Maximum on their roster eligible to join Jazz is 226. Of that how many go to AC directly, or choose not to join Jazz and stay at GGN or go elsewhere.....who knows. I'm gonna guess that about 200GGN pilots come to Jazz (roughly).
300+ more pilots, but massive reductions over time.....DH8 YVR base closure. Q400 YYZ reduced a lot. DH8 YYC reduced a lot.
Q YVR base doubles in size, DH8 in YYZ grows, and opening of CRJ YYZ base.
Going to be an interesting 2019/20

Re: Bid 2019
They're growing the DH8 out of YYZ and reducing the Q? I thought they're getting rid of all their 100s? Am I reading this right?KenoraPilot wrote: ↑Sat Feb 09, 2019 8:30 amMaximum on their roster eligible to join Jazz is 226. Re: Bid 2019
Q400 reduced because ROUGE taking a bunch of their routes, the DH8300 from YVR are moving to YYZ. Total DH8 base closure in YVR.HansDietrich wrote: ↑Sat Feb 09, 2019 8:35 amThey're growing the DH8 out of YYZ and reducing the Q? I thought they're getting rid of all their 100s? Classic D8’s in the east doing all of the old Air Alliance and Air Ontario routes from YUL/YYZ just like the 1980’s/1990’s.HansDietrich wrote: ↑Sat Feb 09, 2019 8:54 am
I bet this is going to make a lot of people really happy. So they'll have the Q go into Castlegar, Cranbrook, Nanaimo and all the old DH8 routes? Is there even a demand for it? What are all those -300 going to do out East? Take over some of the Q routes? It looks to me that YYZ base is getting a handout with one hand and a slap with the other.
YYZ Q400’s being replaced by Rouge 319’s per ACPA RRA language. YQT/YQM/YFC/YSJ.
West is (basically) CRJ900/Q400 only.
Re: Bid 2019
The -300 are coming east to cover the smallest markets the -100 were covering

Re: Bid 2019
Lol wait... Now I get to take a 319 home to NB instead of a q??
Re: Bid 2019
Q400 was an awful equipment choice for a 700+ nm flight segment. Putting a jet back on those routes will put pressure on WJ/Encore and Porter with their own limited product offering.
AC CASM on the route will be significantly lowered. AC will have to match ASM’s to demand and competition. Obviously less frequencies.
Re: Bid 2019
Yeah no offence to Jazz, honestly. However, I won't miss the Q. Though I think I actually preferred it over the old crj's. Some bar at the back of the seat got really uncomfortable in the last 30 minutes.
Re: Bid 2019
It would appear that the AC objective is to reduce CASM wherever practical.
This will be accomplished by upguaging the Express fleet to an average of 70+ seats, and by replacing some current Express 76-78 seat aircraft with Rouge/Mainline 120-145 seat aircraft.
AC fleet is growing and Express fleet is contracting. However, Express ASM’s will remain stable in the near term, then probably slowly reduce thereafter as AC completes implementation of the RRA plan.
Re: Bid 2019
For those joining Jazz from GGN - for the purpose of the bid, Jazz has added 150 positions to the YYZ base. The actual net base growth for YYZ is just 64 pilots accounting for anticipated 2019 pilot attrition to AC from the base. 71 positions added to YUL. 61 positions added to YYC. 94 positions added to YVR.
With the significant reduction in Q400’s positions in YYZ, many senior pilots will fill the YYZ CRJ roster. Junior vacancies on the base will be Dash 8 positions. Jazz pilots from all other bases are also permitted to bid within seniority to fill vacancies in YYZ. Quite a few displaced former CRJ pilots will return to YYZ. Most are quite senior.
Unsure how that will play out for GGN pilots looking at YYZ Base as their first choice. Jazz does not have a live bid system so you will not know the result until after the bid closes.

Not necessarily.flyingcanuck wrote: ↑Sat Feb 09, 2019 11:28 am Well there goes my chance at getting back to YYZ from YVR![]()
The current Jazz YYZ based pilots are protected on the base (but not necessarily in their current position). Vacancies available above and beyond those Jazz pilots electing to remain in YYZ will be filled based on system seniority from the integrated seniority list.
Therefore, seniority will top up the 150 incremental positions in YYZ. There may be more if some current YYZ based Jazz pilots bid to another base. Too hard to predict what that will require seniority wise for either junior CA or junior FO on the YYZ Base.
Re: Bid 2019
So we can basically estimate around 10 OTS per month for a year in each GS...
Depending on when the CRJs will be transferred ? Or GS will independently be filled by GGN pilots first and remaining spots by OTS?

Re: Bid 2019
Jazz will be losing an average of 20+ per month to AC. GGN pilots that move to Jazz are included in that number. For March-December you are probably looking at 10-20 OTS hired at Jazz per month. Some months a little higher. Some months a little lower.

I bet they are repositioning the Classic fleet in part to take over East Coast flying when EVAS looses their CPA.rudder wrote: ↑Sat Feb 09, 2019 9:09 amClassic D8’s in the east doing all of the old Air Alliance and Air Ontario routes from YUL/YYZ just like the 1980’s/1990’s.HansDietrich wrote: ↑Sat Feb 09, 2019 8:54 am

As a new hire, what are the chances of getting assigned yyc base? Will there be a lot of ggn pilots bidding for yyc?

Re: Bid 2019
You will either get yyc or very soon after you start. Dont worry about the base. You can always change that.
Re: Bid 2019
If you do not hold a YYC Position in the new-hire Bid, make sure to select an Equipment type that is operated on the YYC Base. You can then change your standing bid to show current Equipment but different Base. YYC is showing all Equipment types but D8 roster is very small.Malfunction wrote: ↑Sat Feb 09, 2019 1:40 pm You will either get yyc or very soon after you start. Dont worry about the base.
