Assuming seniority allows, can management deny the bids for operational reasons?
According to the new CBA, Swoop pilots are subject to a 24-month position freeze. No one was denied anything. Those three early releases had to be negotiated, like everything now.
Or get 500hrs of 737 time to go overseas to make five times as much money. swoop can be the training academy for "Expat Air". Might as well buy another sim and paint it pink, because the turnover could be less than a year.

we've talked a lot about how shitty Captain pay is at swoop, but what is the FO pay? It can't be THAT much lower than mainline/ AC year 1 can it?
Swoop
1 - $56.39/h $4.48 less than WJ / $2.29 less than AC
2 - $70.32/h $4.35 more than WJ / $5.94 more than AC
3 - $77.35/h $5.28 less than WJ / $3.98 more than AC
Year 4 does not exist for Swoop. Both AC ($82.16)/WJ ($89.99) outpace Swoop at that point.

didn't you swear off this site? back to the shadows with you.
Seems most guys coming from encore are either quite junior and want that insta selfie of them occupying a 737 seat, or, couldn’t occupy the left seat of the q. Either way sounds like a tough sell.

Given the crewing challenges that resulted in several cancellations as well as a costly charter, Swoop management is now implementing GREY DAYs into the LOU via their interpretation of the definition of a day off.
A GREY DAY is a day off awarded but not requested as a day off. Flying can be assigned to a GREY DAY at straight time without consent. Further, if a pilot picks up flying on a GREY DAY, they will not receive compensation at 1.5x. Only days requested and awarded to a pilot are eligible for premium pay of 1.5x.
For example.
A pilot requested no days off and received a schedule of 13 single days and 17 days off. All the pilot's days off are considered GREY DAYS and can be assigned flying without consent if within the CARs. If the pilot picks up opentime, it will be at straight time.
Choose wisely.

ALPA is arguing the definition of a day off however this interpretation clearly shows what kind of employer SWOOP is.
As mentioned above, a good portion of WestJet hiring in 2019 will be at SWOOP. Applying to WestJet is NOT what it once was.
Choose wisely.
Wow, removing the incentive to come in on a day off by taking away overtime is a unique way to deal with crewing issues.
Well, thank goodness the MEC spent all that negotiating capital on getting rid of those OTS pilots. Cause things seem pretty awesome over there at swoop. But hey, at least we put guys like tbaylx in their place. Right? Totally worth it! Now we can watch the left seat at swoop go to junior encore FO's. Almost a thousand spots out of seniority! Cause there's nothing wrong with that? Nope. Totally makes sense.

Yeah...Winning indeed.
Watch everybody come back and attack this statement, truth as it is.

Yup . Still rather the spots go to Encore FOs than the OTS guys. Sorry you don’t understand that.

Good luck to the training department dealing with that.
When people ask my opinion of booking on Swoop, I'll make sure to mention the experience level of their crews.

Is there a limit to the amount of days off you can request per month?
Are swoop pilots obligated to keep their phone on 24/7 on their days off now?
Good that they are scrambling for crews. Bad how they are trying to deal with it...
I can picture a pilot requesting 12 days off, but instead being scheduled for those days and getting other days off. That way Crew sked has a pilot available to them for the entire month. Like the junior pilot who requests weekends off, but never gets them.

Oh dear lord! I don't even know how to respond to that. You're right. I don't get it! I really don't, and for good reason, cause that is by far the stupidest sh!t that I've ever heard!
That statement encapsulates the utter arrogance and the gross hypocrisy of what happened at Swoop. That remark is utterly baffling. "Lets upgrade a guy who landed here 6 months ago, with less experience and no 37 time, as long as we stick it to those OTS guys."
Doesn't matter anyway, cause I know the second floor well, and it'll be a blustery day in hell before that ever happens - Swoop WILL go OTS again. Nothing was resolved, only delayed.
Enjoy f*cking this airline into the ground! You're off to a hell of a start.

I was thinking more in the lines of requesting 30 days/month off. That way every day off that is awarded, is by definition a requested day off, and thus not one of those grey day thingies they are trying to force where you are supposed to go to work without extra compensation.

As an AvCanada discussion grows longer:
-the probability of 'entitlement' being mentioned, approaches 1
-one will be accused of using bad airmanship
