Tail deliveries for 2019

Post by highlander »

I couldn’t find this here in another thread.

How many Max tails and 787 tails are expected by the end of 2019?

Must be a slightly dated chart because it does not show the tail reductions in the 737-800 fleet from tails moving to Swoop.

That graphic looks to be from WJ's 2018 Financial Report. Only arbitrators seem to believe they're actually separate companies.

It is quite current (31 Dec 2018), the 6 Swoop aircraft are included in the total. With 2 MAX8s and 2 787s delivered so far in 2019, the Boeing aircraft total is currently 126 for WS and 6 for WO with 2 in transition to WO and 2 more aircraft switching to WO this year as 2 more MAX8s arrive. All aircraft for WS, WO and WE are in the table.

I hope you can understand my confusion because I was told Swoop was a separate company and the pilots are paid roughly 50% less to fly the exact same aircraft. I mean, if it's all one big happy fleet, shouldn't we all make the same wage for doing to same job?

I thought Max 7’s and Max 10’s were on the horizon?

Are Max7’s going to be successful like the 600’s sarcasm?

Max 7’s and 10’s in a few years will be interesting. I’m surprised so many 7’s are being considered.... I suspect those might change.

It will be interesting to see what happens with the 7's. However, the 400 miles extra range opens up a few more European Destination options from YYZ. Not sure what the plans are, but I imagine its nice to keep those options open for now.

One can look at it as Loblaws groups of companies, or Canadian Tire group of companies ordering "tools of their business", all going to different destinations within the same "group" but under "different" companies. This model of large corporations targeting different sectors of the market by different companies under their control has been around for some time in other industries and is now taking roots in aviation too. Therefore, it is quite conceivable for WestJet or Air Canada to move airframe around as needed. The fact that pilots in both groups have managed to negotiate a single bargaining unit for both companies does not change those realities. Denying this will only frustrate oneself but will not change the facts and reality of the market!

Okay, so are you going to go work for Swoop?
