Low Wing

Post by XLR8 »

Is it possible to do all of your PPL and PPL flight test on a low wing ?

Spiral dive in an arrow? Interesting, I'd pass on that.

But as long as your plane is certified for all the exam criteria, spiral and unusual attitudes, spins(for the CPL) go for it.

Lastly remember it's a more complicated machine if you're comfortable with having extra work load(gears), more power, more emergencies, sure go for it.

Any particular reason why you'd rather do the low wing? Just for my own insight?

Cherokee 140 Cruiser is the only Cherokee you can do your complete PPL training on. Warriors/Archers are not certified for spins.

Cherokees are nicer flying planes than C172s. The low wing offers greater visiblity especially turning final.

The aircraft must be able to do spins for the PPL flight test:

Maybe you are thinking of the RPP?

An aircraft certified for spins is no longer required for the PPL flight test; since spins have been removed from the test. However, you still have to have an aircraft certified for spins as they are still part of the required syllabus. So use a low wing for everything else and rent a 172 for the spins, no biggie.

As for the comment about doing spiral dives in an Arrow; try it, you'll like it!

I guess i should not be surprised that the regulators do not have current publications.

When did this happen?

*bows head in shame*

S.o.L on using most low wing aircraft..

Unless you do as it suggests. Provide two aircrafts, one for the spin and any other exercises, which you already knew..

Thanks Ahramin

The early cherokees were certified for spins and the Tomahawk is certified for spins to name two low wing trainers.

In fact I had a Tomahawk in my school and preferred it to the Cessna 150.

They don't have a current pub on that change? God I hope you're kidding since spins went out of the private ride something like two years ago.

And the best description of a Katana goes to ... SHITDISTURBER.

LOL. That was good.

But they do spin like crazy.

And as for the Flight Test Standards Guide for the PPL, i tried to find them but the only one i could find was for helicopter PPL, but when i clicked on it, it brought me to a list of all the FTSGs. The one i linked to was dated 2001 and i was not aware that changes had been made since. So i opened the mouth again and in went the foot.

There may be a current copy of the FTSG for the PPL lurking somewhere on the TC site, but i do not have the 10K years it would take me to find it.

Since when have I complained about that? I'm actually finding an advantage in it. If my eyesight deteriorates to a certain point, as long as I keep a reasonable distance from you, I won't be nauseated. violent flame
