Re: 2018 Pilot Hiring
They’ve been calling candidates from the fall 2018 pool.
In twenty years time when your kids ask how you got into flying you want to be able to say "work and determination" not "I just kept taking money from your grandparents for type ratings until someone was stupid enough to give me a job"

Re: 2018 Pilot Hiring
I see the ad is up now. What is the general time to upgrade? I'd come from corporate 604 world ~10,000 hours with 1500 PIC on a classic Boeing from another life. Still have 20+ years of flying left in me if I fly until 60.
Thanks,
CL

Re: 2018 Pilot Hiring
With that experience probably pretty quick. I’m pretty sure there will be DEC’s hired and then many more hired with quick upgrades in mind.CL-Skadoo! wrote: ↑Tue Mar 19, 2019 1:37 pm I see the ad is up now. What is the general time to upgrade? Re: 2018 Pilot Hiring
Anyone got the call yet for the last add that came out last week or are they still looking through resumes?
Re: 2018 Pilot Hiring
Nothing so far. I guess they will probably begin interview in April since they say it was for June GS. Anyway good luck all and fingers crossed for me.FOD_Vacuum wrote: ↑Wed Mar 20, 2019 11:00 pm Anyone got the call yet for the last add that came out last week or are they still looking through resumes?

Re: 2018 Pilot Hiring
What's the latest on the significant fail rates with the upgrades? Last I heard 60% fail rate on upgrades. That seems like a high percentage of failures likely not consistent with actual skill/attitude related failures, rather politics. Is there a "game" one has to play to upgrade at Sunwing? Or is it a fair shot for everyone and that 60% of your FO's aren't ready a year or two into it?
Re: 2018 Pilot Hiring
Everyone I know who has been hired has come from an internal referral. If you know someone working there, push for that recommend.
Re: 2018 Pilot Hiring
I received an offer and didn't have an internal reference but I interviewed way back june last year. Just be patient.
In twenty years time when your kids ask how you got into flying you want to be able to say "work and determination" not "I just kept taking money from your grandparents for type ratings until someone was stupid enough to give me a job"

Re: 2018 Pilot Hiring
It's the very first line of the job ad: "Classes begin in June 2019 and will be recurring consistently Every Month for the foreseeable future."
Re: 2018 Pilot Hiring
Now let's fire up the rumor mill.
What about the possible permanent YVR base ? What are the odds of that happening ?

Good, they’ve been talking about it quite a bit lately.
