A guy who was "something in West Jet" decided to start another UUULC carrier.
Info from first hand is that there is 30 MAX 8 on order with another 20 as option.

Something about the related WOW Air article (New Vancouver - Iceland Route  ) on that same page that screams of foreshadowing.

Relaunching Enerjet? The thought alone is too funny for words.
A rich guy looking to waste a few million on a ridiculous endeavour. Why not?
ULCCs in Canada are simply ‘mission impossible’.
Which brings me to Canada Jetlines. Nah, never mind.
But, good luck. A re-launch of any carrier says it all.

All these fools chasing something that does not exist. What a farce. Reminds me of that old adage "a fool and his money are easily parted". Wait for it.

"Indigo Partners, LLC[1] is a private equity firm which has a controlling interest in the American Frontier Airlines and Chilean low-cost start-up JetSmart, as well as holding stakes in Mexican budget airline Volaris and European low-cost carrier Wizz Air, while a partnership with Enerjet is planned to launch a new Canadian ultra-low-cost carrier.[2] Indigo Partners was co-founded by Bill Franke and has set up a number of ultra-low-cost airlines around the world. It is headquartered in Phoenix, Arizona."

"On Wednesday **NOV 18 2017**, Airbus announced its largest single aircraft order in the company’s history. U.S. investment firm Indigo Partners bought 430 aircraft of the Airbus A320 family for a sticker price of 49.5 billion dollars. The deal was announced at the Dubai Air Show by a jubilant John Leahy, Airbus‘ Chief Operating Officer – Customers. The massive deal includes orders for both the A320neo and A321neo aircraft, Airbus’ newest revamp of the A320 family."

Wait for it...

Nothing will materialize. There simply isn't a market for this model in Canada. Swoop is loosing money, and Flair is sinking (faster and faster).

I don't understand how these companies with NO understanding of the aviation industry think they can make money operating a ULCC?!

I mean Indigo Partners, which has controlling interest in Frontier (USA), JetSmart (Chile) and holds stakes in Volaris (Mexico) and Wizz Air (Hungary) and whose chairman, Bill Franke was instrumental in Spirit Airlines' transformation into a ULCC, obviously doesn't have a clue what it takes to operate a successful ULCC.

They only operate a combined 280 Airbus A320 family aircraft with orders for 430 more. haha small time operators!

[sarcasm]

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying they don't face some challenges, but the expert comments on this thread are somewhat amusing given the experience of Indigo Partners.

Swoop may or may not be making money but Flair sure ain't sinking. A large share bought up by 777 recently and 2 more 800's on the way by mid summer, more hiring soon etc. I've seen sinking ships, Flair is not one.

So as a content flair air employee "at the moment" you're pretty sure a potential direct competitor to your livelihood which is backed by billions of dollars is a non issue?

What sinking ships have you seen to know that flair air is not one?

Never said it was a non issue, but there already is a competitor backed by billions of dollars paint pink in direct competition with Flair. Flair has managed so far.

You didn’t control sending a cheque for 30,000 to jetsgo? You didn’t control accepting a job trying to bypass everyone at WJ/encore? Okie Dokie
