Hey just needed to vent. Got 1500+ hours and been instructing for 3+ years. got hired flyin twins for 703 operation. It went bankrupt, so tried to apply to others, no luck. Not even instructing jobs avialble.

Anyone know of a company looking for low time guy, got a class 2 and some higher schooling. Will fly for food.

Now is not the time to quit! Go north if you have to, but stay current as you update the major airlines. For now, Lockhart in YXL is looking, Superior Airways too. Not sure what part of the country you are in, but with 1500+ hours and at least 100 twin (?) you will find something.
Lots of airlines hiring which creates vacuum effect for smaller carriers.

Don't give up!

I know things can be tough when you are on the outside looking for work, but cut the will fly for food crap. This mentality is what causes us to be overworked and under paid. Suck it up and do something else for money until a flying job comes along, and quit cheapening our profession!!!

Seriously, the industry is trucking along at full speed, there are more jobs being posted in every aviation publication/forum/word of mouth then I’ve ever seen and your crying about not being able to find a job?!?! Jesus, you want it on a silver platter?
Here’s an idea start looking farther away than Markham or North Bay. You have 1500 hours, good time, and if you cannot find work with that kind of time in today’s market, then you’re doing something seriously wrong…

Sorry about the rant but common, this is ridiculous.

Lead, follow, or get out of the way.

I agree, don't lower yourself, you will just be self inflicting you.

But on the other hand, nobody should believe that it is easy eventhough the industry is doing better.

I have over 3000 TT and over 1000 twin but believe it or not I have a hard time finding something ! Making a lateral move would not be too bad, but if you want to upgrade, and if you can't for family reason (wife and kids) live in a hole upnorth...trust me it is a lot harder.

Without mentionning if you are not in the ideal 25 30 years old range...

I don't want to inspire pity, I just want people to realize that the path is not the same for everybody.

Springjob, good points. I get somewhat defensive about drivers that cry about themselves but aren’t willing to venture out and find work. There are cases out there that for whatever reason, they can't make a go of it, and lack of motivation has nothing to do with it.

No problem,
I don't mind moving at the other end of the country, but making my family miserable in hole upnorth without running water and road, and with gambling and drinking problems all over the place is not worthed...
Been there done...

Been to every FBO in a 500 mile radius with a resume, they're not hiring. The industry may be in a boom, but us low time guys are not seeing it yet. I'm ready to move anywhere and fly just about anything. Anyone know of a bush job in the middle of nowhere that will hire a guy with 1500 hours and some <100 multi.
Any names will help.

Sorry dude. You're out to lunch. We can all tell you where to find jobs, but wont.

you wanna know why. The industry is moving faster than ever before. All of us with even just a little more time than you have had a harder time finding work than you.

The internet is not the place to ask for work. Find it yourself.

I dont think you did check with all the "FBO'S". Anyone in THIS industry would tell you its moving. Might not be as convinient as YOU would like.

When I say companies are hiring I mean it. Where Im living right know there are 4 min, companies looking for FO's right now.

You gotta look harder. Get determined!

I dont hold anyones hand in this industry thats not willing to try and get to it. In much harder times of past, we still found work.

I FUCKIN hate Whining about this industry.

hey I'm not whining, I put in 4 years of hard work instructing and am willing to do just about anything to get a job. But just am not sure how to go about doing it. The insructing cocoon does not give a pilot real world experience so I was just trying to get some advise from guys with more experience.

I appreciate all the help you other guys have given me.

OK, get a copy of the latest wings with the 2005 charter directory and go to it!!!
Make some calls, send some resumes, do a drive.
Go instruct at Perimeter to get some multi time and watch the doors open.
Talk to some of your former students, you never know where their at.

I can tell you most turbine opperators right here in YYC are looking as we speak for FO's.

Things are moving, and these jobs are starting to filter there way down.

Also, you have 1500 hours and your looking for an FBO job? WTF, have some dignity and respect the time you have. An FBO isn't going to do shit for your resume at this point. Maybe a swift kick in the ass would...

Another good way to find info on operator is the PCC website. The Alberta directory is quite extensive.
But honestly I sent a lot of résumé and I called quite a few operators but I haven't got any positive answer from Calgary neither Edmonton.
But I understand you work overthere so you should know better!

Everywhere within a 500 NM radius?

Try 5000 NM's one way...actually 13 000 SM's return...TWICE IN THREE YEARS!!!

Guys respect the road trip, that face to face effort. And not just a five minute in and out...if there's an airport with a couple of multi operators, plan to stay the night, find out where the boyz go drinking...That's where you're going to find that right seat King Air job, or left seat HO gig...not on here. I got my first job because when the chief pilot and the rest of the guys arrived in the morning, I was the one sleeping in a tent in the gravel parking lot in the rain...no shit...

And you don't have to go as far as Yellowknife...tons of companies in Ontario, Manitoba, Saskatchewan and Alberta...I wouldn't bother with BC.

Time to spread your wings young man.

I heard a good instructing term that will hit home with you SSCBD form a co worker the other day, he called the circuit the ring of death! I love it!

that my friend can be very true, expecially if your school does have a twin. I was actually advised not to log too many single instructing hours cause it doesn't look good on the resume.

Quick question for anyone whose been in transition game, is it better to call an air operater before you show up or should you show up at the door looking for te CP?

Show up unannounced with kneepads, KY jelly, and assless chaps. If one of these does not get you the job, at least they will not forget your name.
