I JUST WROTE THE AIRFRAME EXAM. FAILED BY 1 QUESTION. I WAS NOT EXPECTING 20-25 HELICOPTER QUESTIONS. THATS WHERE I WENT WRONG. STUDY HELICOPTERS ALOT. IF YOU GET ALL THE QUESTIONS RIGHT THATS 30% OF THE EXAM. APART FROM THAT EMAIL ME. I REMEMBER ALOT OF THE TOPICS. IM WRITING STANDARD PRACTICES IN 2 WEEKS. ANYBODY HAVE ANY ADVICE. WHAT SHOULD I FOCUS ON?
Re: AME tech exams
I REMEMBER ALOT OF THE QUESTIONS FROM AIRFRAME. I AM IN YUL MONTREAL. AM WILLING TO HELP ANYONE WRITING AIRFRAME IN EXCHANGE FOR INFO ON STANDARD PRACTICES. CHEERS.
Re: AME tech exams
Did Standard last month.... Electicity- couple questions on ohms law. Know hardware ie. rivets, AN stuff like bolt length and material color and ident ( D= alum), corrosion types and treatment,NDT,Fire types, Fuel types and color code, Ridged tube/flex hose (skydrol) and Drawings. Some weight and balance. Get the ASA prepware and cross ref with Jeppsen. really helps. Passed no prob, also passed airframe last week no prob. Get the Jeppesen Helicopter Maintenance with workbook, that was more than enough to get through.

Re: AME tech exams
Hi everyone. I'm a long time observer, first time contributor. I completed the ICS program a little over 4 years ago and I'm currently on the home stretch of my apprenticeship.
I was wondering whether anyone lately has had to do the technical exams and perhaps can give incite on what is expected? Is the airframe exam still helicopter heavy?
I have the jeppesen textbooks along with the asa test guides for 2011 as well as "Aircraft Powerplants" by Kroes and Wild. Is this sufficient study material or should I invest in some more reference material?
Thanks

They are multiple choice questions with the usual 4 options, the question are on an archaic computer system, you'll need to bring a calculator, they'll provide scrap paper and a reference sheet of all approved aviation acronyms so don't waste your memory on those…
Here's some questions I can remember from the exams, they should give you an idea of the kind of questions you could see,

These are really good as well. Downloadable PDF and free on the FAA website. Looking at the Technician books.

I have just accomplished my ICS course through my company and I'm looking into writing my technical exams in the coming months. I know a lot of people comment on using the JEPPESEN A&P test/STUDY guide or the ASA study guide. My question is is there a difference between the two sets of information? I don't want to waste money on the sets of books if one is useless writing the AME Technical Exams.

Hey guys.
I’m really struggling trying to study for standard practice and Structures test. I’ve been out of school for a while now and I’m trying to do the TC exams. I’d really appreciate the help with some info on both exams, trying to get the “S” license.

Just did my standard pratice last week and airframe today for the M exam i can tell you that my exam questions almost matched 100% with what APPAME posted.
Mbg as for the S license exam i talked with the S guys at work and he said the standard pratice was simliar to the M license, but that a lot of Airframe questions were from AC 43.13

Re: AME tech exams
Hello All,
I am an AME with over 20 yrs experience outside Canada, looking to sit for the technical exams for the M2 license. However, due to my training school going through a few "restructuring" in the past 30 years, they are unable to find the curriculum which states the exact amount of hours and the subject breakdown for the curriculum.
My question is, if I do the ICS Aircraft Mechanic online course successfully, will I be able to sit for the M2 theory exams without any problems?
Many thanks,

Re: AME tech exams
For the M exams, I used handed down notes from people who had done the exams with the jeppesen study test prep book.
On its own, the jeppesen book isn't enough for the canadian exams.
Send me your e-mail in a PM and i'll send you the study notes I used
CARS is super easy, going through the study guide CARS for AME is all you need to pass.

With the ICS diploma you will be able to sit the M exams, that's the path I took to get my M2.dakardakarAME wrote: ↑Mon Jun 17, 2019 8:28 am Hello All,
