I'm sure I'm not the only pilot that has no idea when national holidays even are.PostmasterGeneral wrote: ↑Tue Jun 18, 2019 5:19 am Condolences to all those forces to start a PIT course on Canada Day![]()

Re: The Air Canada OTS thread
Been 13 weeks for me and nothing but crickets
Re: The Air Canada OTS thread
Guy I know had six months of crickets before the interview and another six months before a job offer. Just don’t burn any bridges in the meantime.

Re: The Air Canada OTS thread
Big one. What is the breakdown? Any reason for the big size?

Re: The Air Canada OTS thread
Running bigger classes now every 3 weeks instead of every two.
Re: The Air Canada OTS thread
I think it was every 3 weeks, and is supposed to go to every 2 weeks over the summer.
Re: The Air Canada OTS thread
13 weeks from interview to call. 22 July start. Phewy
Re: The Air Canada OTS thread
June, July and August are the high water marks for the airline, the objective is to have all hands on deck for the peak season. Accordingly conversion courses are planned to be completed prior to the summer. With all the pilots on the property flying the line there is more simulator space available to train new hires.
A220 courses are on the books for instructors, managers and check pilots, I wouldn't expect to see FO spots available prior to October.

Re: The Air Canada OTS thread
Training reports don't show anything for the A220 anytime soon. Other than the trainers/checkers.
Additionally if the 737 is grounded much longer I wouldn't be surprised to see a big move in the next bid. They can't keep the pilots sitting at home forever.

Re: The Air Canada OTS thread
It's cheaper for them to leave the pilots at home than run a reduction bid.
Not only are the 737 pilots getting paid less at home than they would be if they were training, the amount of courses a reduction would trigger would be out of sight at a time when training is at capacity.
Even if they only reduced roughly 1/2 - 200 pilots, I estimate it would trigger 500 courses. Only to have to train most of those reduced/bumped people back again when they exercise their RIRs in 6 months or a year - so maybe 800-1000 courses when it's all said and done and back to roughly where it is today.
Not that I disagree with you, they should reduce the 737, except ACPA let them park those pilots cheaper than the contractual alternative and Boeing will pay for it somehow in the end.

Re: The Air Canada OTS thread
Yah you're right I didn't really think about the cascade effect of pilots with reduction rights. Would get pretty messy pretty fast.altiplano wrote: ↑Tue Jul 02, 2019 1:29 pm It's cheaper for them to leave the pilots at home than run a reduction bid.

How about we just get rid of the 737s in totality. Finalize this AT deal, convert the options they have for the NEOs and convert on the A220 options. I think it will take years otherwise for average passengers to be fine flying on a MAX again. Might not be a bad idea to become the one Canadian operator (between SW, WJ, AC) to not run the MAX.

Re: The Air Canada OTS thread
4. Chronic shortage. Didn't hire enough pilots over the last 8 years.
Re: The Air Canada OTS thread
There’s a lot of senior Sunwing pilots on this last PIT course.
Welcome to Redneck Airlines. We might not get you there but we'll get you close!
