digits_ wrote: Sun Jun 23, 2019 1:10 pm I'd say at least 2 parties made an obvious mistake: the FA and the groomers.

Regarding the checks: I'm not blaming the pilots or AMEs, but -going out on a limb here as I don't know the specific procedures at AC-, aren't the FAs generally responsible to preflight check the cabin and emerency exits? If you miss a person sleeping on a seat, I wouldn't be surprised if you'd miss a smaller indicator on the door that something might be off.
Thats why I dont think this shits true. Too many people on and off that plane. Groomers are supposed to check every seat pocket, cross seat belts. etc... so how do they miss one of 120 seats? Let alone a whole row?

AC says theyre investigating which tells me theyve listened to her claim but have not confirmed it as true. And what gate agent offers a hotel at the passengers final destination?

Agreed, that does make it sound weird.

However, if she was indeed trapped on the airplane, somebody must have assisted her to get out of the plane. One of the gazillion cameras at the airport should probably have recorded that.

Regardless wether it was intentional or accidental, someone should have noticed her before the plane was parked for the night.

This is on every news channel now, she really wants everyone to know. If I slept thru the whole de planing I'd be so embarrassed I wouldn't want anyone to know. This has to be some kind of money grab stunt.

Oh I don't doubt that, but just because she tries to make money off of it doesn't mean it is acceptable what happened.

Back in the day I was always told by dispatch to do a thorough headcount as to not leave any passengers behind. I always figured they didn't want us to leave pax in the terminal, maybe there was a second meaning to that sentence...

What was the aircraft type? Passenger says it was a 40-50 foot drop to the ground. I didn’t know they fly A380’s on the YQB-YYZ run.

No, they fly A 321's on that route. I would not attempt to jump the 12ft from the door to the ground either though.

32 is the very very back of the RV 319, thee last row. The holes in her story are getting bigger. How do cabin groomers miss that when cleaning the shitters? How does she not wake up to the sound of them cleaning the shitters or the caterers offloading the carts?

Air Canada has confirmed the story themselves. I'm thinking they didn't groom the plane that night either as they would have seen the lady. Or it's just really bad groomers.

AC has not confirmed the incident took place. Media outlets are not reporting the same thing, some say that AC isnt confirming it, others say they are. I reckon reporters are confusing the "confirmation" with AC saying "yes we heard the story, now were investigating". Usually when shit hits the fan airlines are quick to say "yes, this happened, were looking in to it and making it right" where in this case AC is only saying "we heard the claim, were looking in to it".

"Air Canada confirmed O’Brien’s story, but declined to share any additional details citing a review of the incident."

That's right out of the ctv article I posted. A fairly reputable source.

Why is it so hard to believe that the crew rushed off to get some food and drink as soon as they could without checking the plane. No groomers obviously and when they towed it back they didn't need to walk the plane again.

Air Canada is far from perfect. IMO it's not THAT big of a deal, they should have checked and the lady shouldn't have been sleeping so soundly. In today's climate, it's a security breach but in reality it wasn't.

Let's label the seats like that: don't sleep too soundly during flight.

I have laid down and slept on a flight before and the FA woke me up during landing check saying that it is against regulations to let a passenger lay down during landing. And if she is claiming that she was hidden by the tray table being down. Again, during the landing check the FA would have noticed that it was down and put it up.
So many holes that don't make sense, Either she hid away and waited for everyone to leave or they were the most incompetent flight attendants. Both are plausible.

That shouldn't be possible either.
