Getting back on topic... I see there’s an August 12th class. Safe to assume classes will continue to be every three weeks for the rest of the year?

Would be interesting to know if any TS pilots are turning down a course in hopes of a better seniority if the merger goes through.

All their files are on hold till this acquisition gets sorted out. None are getting called. Poaching from wj and sw instead.

So the Jazz deal is to hire a certain percentage of Jazz pilots relative to OTS hires, right? So if they merge 600 Transat pilots they don't have to hire any Jazz pilots at all I imagine.

Don't forget AT is coming with their fleet...
However that means the OTS hiring is going to be over-competitive and be sure that majority of new Jazz pilots will apply, and AC cannot lower the bar too much.
Also keep in mind that AC will hire 90% of Jazz eligible pilot. The trick here is "eligible"... Requirements can change to for example "if Express carrier, minimum requirement is 3500 total time, 500 PIC in a 705 company"

CR knows what he is doing and this deal with Jazz until 2035 isn't insignificant. AC entered talks with AT in October 2018.
This guy is everything but foolish from a businessman perspective.

That they come with their fleet may be the case, but TS pilots bring less than they believe.
The 310’s and 737 will never set foot at AC....

I think you'd see the 320s and maybe a couple 330s get AC paint.

The last A310 flight at Transat will be April 2020 (funny it’s now coordinated with the acquisition timelines) and the 737s will be progressively leaving (but they could be useful for AC while your MAX are grounded...if they ever fly again...). Transat would bring A321s neo LR and A330s.....so definitely not less than what you want to believe.

The Transat pilots don't own anything. They have nothing, and will bring nothing. We here at AC don't "have" nor bring anything either.

You, like me, are only a "number" at AC. The Transat pilots will become just another "number".

There is NOTHING that you, or I can do to stop it. The Seniority issue will be handled by our elected reps and Transat's elected reps, or it will be handled by a Judge.

This animosity toward another pilot group....like they are responsible somehow (for anything)...... is childish and completely pointless.

Anger should be directed at Calin and his acquisition team, not the hapless victims at Transat that only want to keep their job and feed their families.

Air Canada and Canadian was a merger done in the 90s, TS is an acquisiton by AC. The dynamics of the :prayer: seniority list will be very different :smt040

The CDN/AC merger went off the rails a bit. Canadian Regional pilots who were not even on Canadi<n's property until early 1997 were given a phantom "date of hire" at Canadi<n starting in Aug 1990, just post B. Fulop (the last guy legitimately hired by CDN). This was done by CDN prior to submitting the list, not by AC. Giving the Canadian Regional pilots a fake date of hire was dead wrong. The first hundred or so CRA pilots pulled a "windfall gain" of epic proportions. So it didn't exactly go AC's way.

I would expect the Transat merger to be slightly better balanced, and simpler. However, if we expect and ask for too much, expect to be slapped down. Whatever the result, it will likely be close to date of hire, with a small ratio built in.

It can't be DOH because we don't use DOH at AC

ie deferrals...

That could be a colossal mess

I hope nobody's deferring these days. This could be the last class for a while.

31 people. More than half were OTS. A few more Cathay people again escaping that mess.

This is not my impression from the last message from the boss from 2 days ago. The essence I felt was that they are preparing for an onslaught of new captains and the creation of more positions on most fleets.

I would guess a big shaker of a year with lots of hiring and movement.

Fixed that for you. Gold is potentially on track to hit $2000/ounce - inverted yield curve, so-called "incompetent" federal reserve/unpredictable blow hard president, and other signs of bad news to come. Better hope you've got a year or two of seniority, because anyone new is going to be out on their asses.

Alrighty there boys and girls, go easy now. I don't hate Air Canada, or her employees one bit. Georgian and it's ads on the other hand...

As for fantasy hardly (as I don't wish a repeat of the various bust cycles we've seen over the years), but only time will tell - as the signs are in place that there may be some serious turbulence ahead.
