Microsoft Flight sim 2004
Need help, run microsoft Flight sim 2004 on a Pentium 4, 3Ghz + 512 DDR 400Mhz. + Saphire 9600 256Mb videocard and Window XP(should be fast enough to get good results).
Control of the airplane (with keyboard) lag (as much inertia as a loaded A321).
Any way to improve reaction time from computer imput to aircraft reaction to reflect that of a cessna 172?
Also looking at buying a joystick, any recommendation?
Thanks

Get a joy stick... plain and simple. There is no way to fly without one.
As for joysticks... start with a CH Yoke (Best period). If you can add the rudder peddles.
They have just intruced a twin engine throttle quadrant, or you can use it for a jet and the additonal levers for spoilers etc.
They are about pricey, but by far they are the best for flight siming of GA or Transport style aircraft. If you are in the market for a flight stick, you have a few more choices, but are more geared to combat sims, which I do not use.
Hope that all helps.
Cheers

The 9600 video card is your bottleneck as far as framerate goes. You can pick up a 9800pro for a couple of hundred bucks now, and it will run like liquid silk @ 1024 * 768. Or you can pick up a 6800 or 7800 from Nvidia if you want a card that will last you for a couple more years before it starts to show its age. The 6800 and 7800 are pricey though. If your main interest is FS 2004, the 9800pro would be your best bet on a cost vs performance basis.

This is the best sim I have seen on PC...I wish I had a better system so I can buy it, make sure to check the system requirement, you need state of the art system to run this sim smoothly..
