ICAO Licence Conversion

Post by Gonza_A »

Hi. I'm interested in converting my Argentinian CPL in Canada and have some questions. I saw I could apply for a Student Permit and get my Canadian CPL and Flight Instructor Rating in 8/10 months, and afterwards apply for a Post Graduate Work Permit for the same length of the course. My question is, what are the chances of getting that PGWP accepted, and after those 8/10 months I can be working, is it possible to apply for a Permanent Residency?

I also have a Multi-Engine and Instrument Rating. On the Canada Transport website says you can get your ME Rating if "you met the standard of the state that issued the rating, in the preceding 12 months (based on your date of application)". So what does that mean? Do I need to have my ME Rating exam not more than 12 months prior to applying?

And finally, is it easy to find a job as a Flight Instructor? How much they make?

If anyone can answer at least one of these questions it would be really appreciated. Thank you for your time!

You would need to do a cpl conversion. To do so, you will have to write the cpl exam and do a cpl flight test. How much dual training you need will depend on your skills. Then you can do your instructor rating. Also don't forget about a cat 1 medical. Generally we all know how to fly but flying for a flight test is different.
