Who or what is SIMAir?
I am seeing jobs for a whole 705 management team. Saab 340 and it seems Winnipeg.

Rumour around is yet another start up by WestJet. Similar to swoop, except Winnipeg headquartered. Will be their Eastern Pasco and possibly a tool to strong arm negotiate lower costs with Pasco. Also will be a driving tool to keep Encore pay terrible and possibly worse in the future. “Westjet SIM” acronym for Suck It Monkeys.

A search for the contact person, Bob Backhouse, shows that he's the DFO for West Wind. There was an article from December saying that they're trying to expand into neighbouring provinces, but I don't know why they wouldn't do it under their own name, or using aircraft that they already operate. Link 2.0 with Transwest aircraft run by West Wind management? No way I would get on one of those flights.
Edit: Actually, it looks like he's now the VP Ops at Pascan. The former DFO from West Wind still isn't a great credential.

Interesting that they're looking for a management team, but no mention of what they're doing? There's a lot of personal risk jumping onto a random start-up that nobody knows anything about. No business model, no known customers, do they even actually have the airplanes and how many? They can take that risk if they're going to hide everything. Pay me a million bucks up front and I'll be your chief pilot for the next 5 years. Bonuses if the fleet grows to larger than 3. Company collapses, well darn, I've got financial security for a while still. Company does well, great, I've got my job security for 5 years, and possibly longer.

Even Jetlines was forthcoming with "we're starting a ULCC!"

I'm not sure if this is related or not but Kelly Western was recently purchased from a rather large US company.

They put a small sign up at the old kelly western building. Any updates on what they are doing?

They posted a job ad for Saab 340 crews, but still no idea what they're doing! I wonder what the "good opportunity for advancement" is for the captains.

Just wondering how much they pay for captain? Lots of twin turbine 705 captains in YWG but they're all making well over 6 figures, and not going to gamble on a start up unless there's a dump truck of cash offered.

"Pay is commensurate of experience" isn't going to work.

Agreed, a lot of 703 captains that are also well into the 6 figures that were maybe waiting to see what these guys had to offer. Job ad and company info is way to vague to leave 100-150k per year... I recall seeing a Westwind ATR job ad out of winnipeg about a year ago that never seemed to amount to anything being based in YWG. My guess is something went sideways and one of the managers at Westwind decided to start his own operation.

Interesting theory, but I question the use of a Saab. Not exactly the best aircraft.

If you need cheap, you can get an old Dash 8-100 for not a ton and it can carry more passengers.
