This is an interesting one..many versions of the story out there. This is the one I heard the most.
Night takeoff. Pilot says windshear. Pax say he was flying with no pannel lights and a flashlight on his head (read:head lamp), experienced an engine failure, rejected.
It could be BS. You all know how these get started. Glad everyone is ok.

Lucky!
The PA31 departed Kash at night, immediately after take-off, the aircraft's left engine failed, resulting in the aircraft crashing into a swamp. There were no injuries to the seven 7 pax's, the aircraft was substantially damaged.
Do not judge until you know the full story...
Wabusk Crash
Maybe both....maybe "really lucky" and "did a good job"....or, is there actually any place at all for luck in aviation?????

wabusk air
talked to the refueler ymo (funny they know more than just about anyone what happened) the above posts mainly are correct . 1 engine failed
reject and ruhbarb was the outcome.
what is interesting is they lost a contract for patient transfers and that
the locals are in a leary boycott mood so even if they hire 'NEW' it could be a very lean winter.
minus 37 to - 50 is hard on them hoe's

What a load of bull. Remoteness of the area? Give me a break. You can't get any more access to a crash site than that. At an airport serviced by a sked carrier.
This company needs to be investigated one way or another. Using the "remoteness" argument is pretty poor. An accident like this needs to be a field investigation, unless the TSB already knows exactly what happened. If the pilot says "yeah, I screwed up and had the wrong tank selected and it died", then that is pretty straightforward.
However, if I were in charge at TSB (or TC), knowing what I know about this company, I'd say "ok, but we're coming up anyway to check it out". At the same time I'd have the OPP guarding the scene.
I truly hope the people involved start screaming and yelling over this one. It shouldn't matter whether it happens in Kash or in Winnipeg or in Ottawa.
