I had been told 78K for Sunwest, but maybe I was talking to the wrong people. I don't think any of them are still there so...maybe that's a "probation rate" or something

First year captain working 110hrs per month would get $73,548/year gross based on a typical EVAS schedule with no picking up shifts.
Or you could live a 3-hours drive away in YYT and make $80k/year flying 850 hours a year as a Dash captain...
Or for the YHZ based, stay YHZ based and make $70k/year flying 3 days a week as a 1900 captain...
Terrible, don't know how everyone hasn't left yet.

If you do the math for FO's it's much worse. Based in duty hours you make $16/hr. You can literally do just about any other job on the planet and make more money.

These proposed conditions are truly horrific - and this is supposed to be an improvement over what the EVAS pilots have now?

What does the straight time mean? Salary/1200?
Straight time is the salary in the above grid divided by 1200 to obtain an hourly rate.
84 hrs / month are included in the salary rate. If you work 110 (typical at EVAS) you get paid...... your monthly salary/12 + your salary/1200x26.
First year captain working 110hrs per month would get $73,548/year gross based on a typical EVAS schedule with no picking up shifts.
That's 110 flight hours a month? And only making $73,500?
With a work schedule like that you won't have any time to spend money, so no point paying anything.
But, you could save up your money and then transfer to a bigger airline once you pack in some hours. You'll be sipping coconuts with your buddies in no time!

My uncle likes to remind me that a good plumber can make loads more. But, you're covered in crap and you don't get to fly planes...
It's a choice. I love flying, but if I wasn't getting paid what I wanted I'd polish up my resume (or do whatever work I need to do to get it looking "polished") and start shopping.

Right to work in Canada is the biggest issue. So Atlantic Canada Immigration Pilot is a real tool to get it.
As far as I know there is no other Airline which offers participation in such program...
Thats because no other airline is as shitty as EVAS. The fact they have that program, with a Halifax base should literally tell you every thing you need to know about them.
They laid most of their pilots off and then brought a bunch back for CRM earlier this month but after that they let go most of their employees. Stick a fork in EVAS, they're done.
