WestJet takes out runway edge light on landing YYZ
http://avherald.com/h?article=4cedd5a0&opt=0
“A Westjet Boeing 737-800, registration C-FWSE performing flight WS-1229 from Orlando,FL (USA) to Toronto,ON (Canada) with 165 passengers and 6 crew, landed on Toronto's runway 24R at 16:25L (20:25Z) when the aircraft drifted significantly to the left of the centerline. The aircraft taxied to the apron.
The Canadian TSB reported that after arrival at the gate damage to the left hand outboard main tyre and the lower anti skid wiring conduit of the left hand gear was found. A runway inspection the following day revealed a left runway edge light about half way down the runway was missing, the light was subsequently found in the grass about 30 feet from its installed location. Convective weather and reduced visibility due to heavy rainfall were observed at the time of the landing. The left hand main tyre and the anti-skid conduit were replaced.
The occurrence aircraft returned to service about 20.5 hours after landing.”
Doesn’t look like the crew reported taking out a runway light to ATC. If that’s the case, this is disgusting and the crew should be fired. We can’t have planes leaving damage all over our runways because flight crew are worried about consequences.

Isn't the gear fairly narrow on a really wide runway? You'd have to be quite a way off centerline to take out a light.
Shouldn't the crew take a look at the plane if they had gotten that close? Then they would have noticed landing gear damage.
I dunno about getting fired, but certainly something.

Not for doing the damage but failing to report it.Cliff Jumper wrote: ↑Tue Nov 12, 2019 4:44 amWhy stop there? Their spouse and children should be lynched as well.

After reading the article, it looks like the crew had just finished a sharing large bag of cocaine.
They should be definitely be fired for this.
What's that? It doesn't say anything about the cocaine in the article you say?
I thought we were just making up stuff and lynching the crew based on these made up ideas?

Huh. Usually co-pilots take out the right-hand runway lights. No-one will ever know what happened here.
If I'd known I was going to live this long, I'd have taken better care of myself
