Thank goodness! (For me.) Still no PFO letter in the mail! But I tell ya... it's a long walk to the mailbox each morning!

I was told in the interview that all of the next few courses will be for the Embraer 175 ... but I am sure things can change.

I have been waiting for 3+ weeks ... no PFO yet ... hopefully we will hear something soon

Cheers,

spm is correct.

Letters were mailed out on October 3rd to the people selected for the October 24th course, all of whom will be going on the Embraer.

What would you prefer, Emb or RP? And why.

The next ground school is all Embraer and I would be willing to bet the next one will be too although they haven't said yet. We still have 50 deliveries coming though.

One thing to keep in mind about the RP position is that if you are awarded an RP spot on the A340, you will be on a dying airplane if the 777 deal is signed in the near future. Not usually a fun place to be.

Someone had posted a thread about the lifestyle of an RP which was very informative except for the part about logging the time. An RP does not have an endorsement so I don't see how you could log any of it. Something to think about.

I read the info on RP on PCC, very interesting for sure.

JS, could you elaborate on having a position on dying airplane? What's the coin like for RP?

The pay for the RP is the same as the Embraer F/O due to that dreaded pay group. I know that the MEC is looking at re-negotiating that on the 2006 wage re-opener however.

As for being on a dying airplane, the flying begins to suck real bad. The schedule goes downhill, productivety goes downhill, if you are junior you are usually the last one off because everyone senior to you has already bid the new type, therefore you have to wait to be trained. Eventually the remaining group has no schedule and everyone is on reserve doing filler type flying. Generally, it is something you want to avoid if possible.

What were you told in your interview, our of curiosity? I was told PFO letter in 2 to 3 weeks or job offer phone call in 4 to 6. Although I wonder if that 4 to 6 is now going to become more drawn out...?

I'd be curious to know when the folks on the next course (10/24) interviewed.

I think I would prefer Embraer-just not familiar with the whole RP concept-although any foot in the door is good I guess.

Because if by some unfortunate reason, you get laid off in a year or two, you might as well have an endorsement on something with an additional 1000 hours of jet time as opposed to............. well, what you started with.
