Regional to Sunwing?
A friend is convinced it is a good move after 2 years at a regional to try and get a job at Sunwing. Assuming they get an offer...Good idea or bad idea? Worth giving up the seniority? Worth the risk of going with a vacation airline? Thoughts please!

Tons of people do it. Depends on what you want. As for risk, I’m not sure working for Sunwing, a company that owns the hotels we bring our pax to, is any less secure than a regional that does work for another airline (doesn’t own the flying) assuming you’re talking about encore or one of the AC regionals.

What regional? If they are at jazz I'd say hard no.
Just wait for the call from AC.

A friend...Anytime my friend needs something, I go straight to an anonymous internet forum and ask for them too.mixturerich wrote: ↑Thu Dec 19, 2019 9:42 pm A friend is convinced it is a good move after 2 years at a regional to try and get a job at Sunwing.
Follow it up with a heartfelt plea:
You and your "friend" need to go to the place that's going to put the smile on your faces for the longest amount of time. It's really that simple. Sunwing is not going away, and this industry is in a pretty good place for people with experience right now anyway. You will be fine!Thoughts please!

If they've got time on the CRJ and if Sunwing has a matrix that gives credit for that time towards upgrade, then it could absolutely be worth it. The money is better, the shedule is better, the equipment is better, and the destinations are better (IMHO). The only thing that isn't better is the guaranteed interview at AC, but that said AC will still interview you if you go to Sunwing, and they may well hire you and you don't have to wait 2+ years for that interview.

Good luck getting hired ots now with anything less than WB time or 10,000 hours in an NB.co-joe wrote: ↑Fri Dec 20, 2019 11:39 am If they've got time on the CRJ and if Sunwing has a matrix that gives credit for that time towards upgrade, then it could absolutely be worth it. If the individual wants to work at AC (and I get not everyone does, but if they do...) and they are at Jazz, stay put.

Right so if the only thing that matters to you is getting on at AC, then go Jazz, if you want schedule, money, better aircraft, more productive pairings, and better destinations up front, go Sunwing.
