Re: New hire bids
It’s way past that now. Someone was recently awarded an upgrade after 3 months from DOH. Before finishing initial training. ATPLs must be running dry.
Re: New hire bids
+1 Ive heard from a friend working in the training department at Jazz that about 70% of the FOs don't hold an ATPL. Many have a hard time getting PICUS as the training captains qualified for PICUS are busy with captain upgrades or line indoc for new FOs. Also told that only about 10-20% of the new hires hold an ATPL(many from the colleges) which doesn't help with the short supply of qualified candidates for upgrades. They actually encourage new hire classes during their first few weeks to go out and rent aircraft to build up their pic time to meet the requirements for their atpl as Jazz will need captains quickly.

Re: New hire bids
If you have an ATPL and you want to be a Captain in YVR or YUL you could likely hold an upgrade in 3-12 months depending on the type you want. YYZ and YYC are quite senior now, with YYC being the most senior base it seems for Captains of all types.
Re: New hire bids
No encouragement required. You either have the time for the ATPL or you don't. You won't get the requirements using the PICUS program unless you're really close (ie 20-40 hours is reasonable to plan on getting but not much more).
Best advice is to go get a job where you will be able to get PIC time. For real.

Re: New hire bids
The January Equipment Bid is supposed to come out tomorrow which should give us a good indication of where and how many pilots will be needed going forward in 2020. Especially once they adjust the baseline pilot numbers on each type at each base.
Re: New hire bids
As in what the second ground school class of January got, what the first class in Feb will get or something else entirely?KenoraPilot wrote: ↑Tue Jan 14, 2020 1:25 pm The January Equipment Bid is supposed to come out tomorrow which should give us a good indication of where and how many pilots will be needed going forward in 2020. Re: New hire bids
The January System Wide Equipment bid is out, it doesn't look awful except for the Q400 in YYZ. Otherwise almost every other type/base see's status quo or a slight increase (and major increase in regards to YVR base and YYZ CRJ). Looks like we will have a good amount of Captain upgrade spots available as well as FO positions around the system for people to get back where they want to get.
Over all looks like 270+ pilot vacancies going forward with 180+ pilots we have currently set to go to AC in the future.

Re: New hire bids
Noticed the regular pilot job posting is off the Jazz website, only pathway route is available. Anybody have any insight if this is the only way to apply now?

A mile of road will take you a mile, but a mile of runway can take you anywhere

Re: New hire bids
What does it look like majority of new hire FO will be assigned for the most part in the coming month?
Re: New hire bids
As far as I can tell they always have it open, they just change the ad once a year ish probably to help the algorithm sort applicants. If you've got an account already set up just "apply" to the new ad. (Assuming you haven't already done the interview etc been placed in the pool)wordstwice wrote: ↑Thu Jan 16, 2020 12:45 am Noticed the regular pilot job posting is off the Jazz website, only pathway route is available. Re: New hire bids
It was a class only of GGN pilots. They all were CA & FO RJ Positions at various bases.

Re: New hire bids
When will full integration of GGN pilots end at Jazz? I'm a 705 pilot thinking about applying soon but would like some meat to choose from on the first day. How many upcoming GS's are there?

Re: New hire bids
All the GGN pilots should be on the property by end of Feb 2020. Jazz is currently running a GS every 2 weeks for the foreseeable future. As for "meat to choose from", it's alway a crap shoot when it comes to a new hire class. There could be a wide variety for one class and then the very next class might be DH8 Classic YUL for everyone. There is no predicting what will be available in up coming GS's as the company does not choose what will in the GS class until a few days before class starts. ALPA doesn't even know what will be offered. Best advice, since Jazz is a seniority based company, is to get your application in and just get through the door ASAP as everything is based on that. The music will stop one day, hopefully not one day soon. Its best to just apply and see what happens ASAP if you're thinking of coming over to Jazz.DaddyShark wrote: ↑Mon Jan 27, 2020 9:23 pm When will full integration of GGN pilots end at Jazz?
