It's all over the news. The sports fans are in mourning.

"The crowd is fickle. He'll be forgotten in a month".

His life means precisely no more than the other victims of the crash.

True.

All life is precious, and always sad to see someone that young go.

So true. Even his sexual assault case from years ago seems to be forgotten.

But keeping in the spirit of this forum, where speculation is what drives people to return to read, weather wasn't the greatest.

"An onshore flow led to the development of low clouds and fog that settled in late last evening for much of the area. The low clouds and fog remain in place through midday Sunday," AccuWeather Meteorologist Danielle Knittle said. "Winds were very light around the time of the crash at less than 5 mph."

Being that it was reported a S76B and only 5 dead, one of which was a child of his, weight should not have been a factor.

How can you tell which one is the pilot when you walk into a bar?....Don't worry he will come up and tell you.

Tragic, and naturally leave it to members here to twist it up.

That was a really nice bird, and had EGPWS and wx radar as well. Can't imagine how it was a CFIT, but I guess it will come out soon enough.

Awful.

I guess Kobe should have just let his chauffeur take the I-5 or whatever. Sure, LA traffic sucks, but it was the weekend... wouldn't have been too bad.

Sorry to hear a fellow pilot has Flown West on the job again. Condolences to the crew's family.

I don’t think he flew it himself.

I'm not familiar with the area, but they were flying special VFR; weather was marginal VFR

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B0pQfgi9ZqU

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Death_of_Kobe_Bryant
"Others reported seeing it flying into the ground at a "fairly significant rate of speed." It is unclear whether a distress call was made.[5] Data from Flightradar24 appear to show the helicopter rising abruptly before crashing."

At this point, a CFIT accident cannot be ruled out.

To those of you making comments about Kobe; please, have a little class and only discuss aviation here. You're empowered to believe whatever you want about the man, but he was an iconic athlete loved by millions of people around the world. A lot of people are rattled by this.

I have flown VFR in that area. No shortage of high terrain in the area with some reasonable valleys.

Why?

Why should celebrities get an outpouring of support?

Not a single article I've seen mentions anyone else's name.

What did he do for the world that deserves special consideration to not mention him here while he's mentioned in every article.

Why not mention his controversies? Rape cases and bought off witnesses... he could shoot a hoop, that's for sure.

I could care less though... dead millionaire who was tall and athletic... whatever.

I feel for the Pilots and their families... I hope the Bryant estate looks after their future too.

Condolences to all on board.

Last ADSB data showed -4800 ft/min and 161 kts...and that was right after a sharp climb of 1400 ft/min to 2000'.

ATC recordings for the flight show Van Nuys 1100 overcast and 2 1/2 miles visibility, and Burbank as IFR.

Why pilots continue to drone around VFR when conditions are marginal at best will always escape me.....

Gets my vote for Most Classless Post of the Year.

"Only the pilots and THEIR families matter and THEY should get sympathy AND get paid by the guy who got killed while paying the salary of the pilot". Makes perfect sense...

There were a bunch of unsuspecting people on that flight including a couple of kids with their whole lives ahead of them. But you could care less. You sound like a douche with those comments.
