Hey all,
Just wondering if having some good volunteer experience on your resume would help getting on with the big guys ( Salvation Army, old folks home etc) . Does anyone have some insight on this?
Can’t see it being a bad thing nonetheless.
Appreciate anyone’s comments!

My opinion? Put it all on there, but in some sort of "extras" section, off to the side or at the bottom or something. It certainly won't hurt.
I've always listed various other things on my resume (but not while looking for flying work though - in my previous career), and it's never hurt me. Even various hobbies, even my FIDE chess rating (which admittedly, isn't very good). Quite often, it serves as a springboard for other conversation, the "hey, let's get to know this guy" conversations that loosen everyone up in an otherwise rather sterile environment.
Just don't make it look like you're bragging and make it more of a "did you also know?" section - that's what I've always done, and I've generally had good results.

Re: Volunteer experience on a resume
Once in 14 years of flying someone has asked about volunteer experience I had. If you want to volunteer by all means give your time to a good cause, and absolutely note it on the bottom of your resume below education experience. Volunteer organizations are always willing to write letters of reference so take advantage of that and file it away for later if needed.
Just one caveat that make sure it's not going to be looked down upon where you apply for work. Example stars air ambulance is well hated in the fixed wing for profit air ambulance community...
