Poor guy, probably got better pay, nicer hours, and more respect. Hotshot pilots unfortunately do not make good AMEs, their egos leave them in the dust. Hotshot AMEs turned pilots on the other hand...Maynard wrote:Anyone else notice the newbie last season who was a 'hotshot' pilot from bc, is now a mechanic there?

Cool stuff the Air Combat USA dogfighting. Really put us in the driver seat from the couch and gave me a view of just how difficult the knife fight in a phone booth really can be. Guys craning their necks while pulling G's to keep eachother in sight all the while trading altitide or airspeed or both jockeying for position. Looks intense!
Re: Ice Pilots Back
Well saw last show. Sad to see the show end. Why did they not pick it up for another session? Did Joe not want it anymore?
Re: Ice Pilots Back
Would you want another year of constant emergencies? They can now go back to doing what they do. Some great shots but mostly hyperventilated scenario's.

Beats watching dancing with the starts and the rest of the garbage on tv.
Love watching Maday (no new show) and Why Airplanes Crash.
Like to see all the details how an event happens and maybe I can learn something about it even though lives have been lost

Google "faa accident incident data" and you can get access to a lot of information, audio tapes, reports, statistics... It can be indeed very valuablewan2fly99 wrote:Like to see all the details how an event happens and maybe I can learn something about it even though lives have been lost

If you read every issue of Aviation Safety Letter you get a good idea of the kinds of things that cause accidents. I can usually predict what's about to happen after reading the first sentence of the short accident/incident summariesstol701 wrote:Google "faa accident incident data" and you can get access to a lot of information, audio tapes, reports, statistics... Also, have a look at the accidents discussed in the Accidents section here, and search for the TSB report.

Apparently it's going to be replaced on History by this show from Discovery! I'm thinking it will be a bit more exciting!
Looking forward to this!

Re: Ice Pilots Back
Hard day at work? Working a ground job feeling like you're getting no where? Fresh FO and feel stupid making a 6.7 call?
Turn on an episode of ice pilots, and be thankful for where you are.
I respect the guys over at Buffalo. Hard working rampies and pilots... I've done my time up north on the ramp, I hated it at the time but can now say I've never had it as bad as the show makes it seem for these guys. Sure some of it is exaggerated for TV but most of the work on ground is realistic. You know after a ''long'' day of work of pushing buttons and looking out the window sometimes I feel that extra flight at the end of the sked day was BS, or another on call crew should have been called in for you're last flight that will push your duty day to the limit. BUT at the end of the day it can always be worse, the grass is always greener..
To the boys over at Buffalo, keep up the good work, do your time, and take pleasure in knowing you are some of the hardest working gents in the industry

Re: Ice Pilots Back
I was travelling through Red Deer this past summer and we stopped at A&W for lunch. I ordered food and looked back to see Joe sitting beside our table. We had a small chat and he gave my 2 year old daughter an Ice Pilots postcard. She still remembers that. When we talk about that trip she chimes in with "when we met Buffalo Joe". It was cool to meet him, and it's one more aviation related encounter that has definitely inspired my daughter to be interested in planes.

Let's just hope it's not Buffalo Joe's planes that she's interested in.

I think that's what Transport Canada says/said.Cat Driver wrote: ↑Thu Oct 30, 2014 4:05 pmRhetorical?you are overdosing on rhetorical questions.
You are saying Joe does not maintain his airplanes to the required standard?
Good judgment comes from experience. Experience often comes from bad judgment.
