Re: Rocket crash
Apparently the "plan" was to ascend to 5,000 feet, to determine whether the Earth was flat or round - as those new age hippydippy types feel it is.
Wouldn't it have been easier to just get on an aeroplane?

Re: Rocket crash
Given the staggering amount of thought, time and effort that went into this endeavor, I’m not sure it even falls into the general Darwin Awards category. This feels like a whole other level, well beyond the usual spur of the moment “Watch this!” Darwinian elimination sort of actions we often read about.
Rest in peace.
Rest in peace.

I can’t get past the irony of a man who tried to rely on science to help him debunk ... science.

I’m not sure he really believed in what he was selling. If you look into his history he spent a long time trying to launch himself for the thrill of it but never had the funds. A couple years ago he added the bit about flat earth research on his gofundme and the donations started pouring in.Capt. Re: Rocket crash
We all have to go some way. I must say this is a very impressive way of dying. Would be nice to build your own rocket when you're 90 and see how high you can go.

As an AvCanada discussion grows longer:
-the probability of 'entitlement' being mentioned, approaches 1
-one will be accused of using bad airmanship

Re: Rocket crash
Darwin not in play. At his age he has already affected the gene pool!
Rumor has it that a roadrunner was observed leaving the scene.
Re: Rocket crash
I remember hearing about this in the planning stage. I would have been surprised with any other result. Madness. Sad for him and those who cared about him.

I'm with you there lownslow. I'm convinced he was humouring the flat earthers for funding.lownslow wrote: ↑Tue Feb 25, 2020 4:09 amI’m not sure he really believed in what he was selling. Re: Rocket crash
One can imagine this esteemed member of the flat earth society suggesting what he was aiming to do is straight forward easy stuff , tis not “ rocket science” you know.

When you think about it, this would be a killer way for some enterprising future airline pilot to bankroll their training. As long as they can handle people talking about them.mantogasrsrwy wrote: ↑Tue Feb 25, 2020 6:04 pmI'm with you there lownslow. I guess don't knock it until you've tried it... L.Ron Hubbard got rich by creating a "religion."mantogasrsrwy wrote: ↑Tue Feb 25, 2020 6:04 pmI'm with you there lownslow. I'm convinced he was humouring the flat earthers for funding.
